Industry leader in casings and nettings products utilized in world-wide consumables packaging and product treatments has immediate need for Textile Engineer. Textile Engineer position encompasses the quality, technical and engineering to design quality initiatives. They will support new product development and lead implementation of all textile initiative while working in coordination with product business managers and operations. They will drive continuous improvement in existing operations to optimize textile usage, quality and cost. Utilizes knowledge of textile products, materials, production equipment capabilities, assemble methods and quality control standards to drive change. Incorporates hands on approach to development work. Analyzes and improves manufacturing methods using sound date driven practices. Enhances current manufacturing methods using existing or new equipment to ensure repeatability and conformance to customer specifications. Evaluates equipment and processes for repeatability and makes improvements as necessary. Develops processes for manufacturing products using Lean, Six Sigma, and/or Statistics-based methods and principles for process excellence. Monitors and audits the performance of processes and equipment and makes recommendations for continuous improvement necessary to maximize process capability. Works with vendors and internal resources to determine product specifications and arranges for purchase and installation of equipment, materials or parts for new products. Investigates, recommends and justifies new technologies, manufacturing methods and equipment to meet competitive business needs and improve efficiencies. Documents processes and works with Supervisors/ Manager to train operators and other personnel to meet process needs. Interacts with Product Development to ensure manufacturability or minimize the risks associated with new products transferred to the Commercial Business Group. Fosters a high level of creativity and independence in the design and development of new or improved manufacturing processes, systems, prototypes and projects. Understands and complies with current good manufacturing practices (cGMPs).
Requires 2 plus years' of textile manufacturing/ and or engineering experience in a manufacturing environment. Bachelor's degree Textile Engineering, desirable. Kaizen and Lean Manufacturing techniques, a plus. Communication skills: Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business and technical information. Ability to write correspondence. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from management peers and subordinates. Ability to speak a second language, desirable (Spanish/English). Technical skills: manufacturing processes and methods. Mathematical skills: Ability to do mathematical calculations (i.e. ratios, formulas). Problem analysis and problem resolution, required. Computer skills: Knowledge of Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, Excel, e-mail programs. Knowledge of manufacturing software programs, desirable. Safety: working knowledge of safety rules and regulations.
