Primarily responsible for the day-to-day management and maintenance of the storage environment. Additionally, responsible for the implementation of server and storage technology as well as storage based applications. Interacts with business users and vendors to implement new and existing storage and systems. Act as 2nd level support for server and storage issues. Assists in the development and strategy of the storage infrastructure through system monitoring, maintenance, and system upgrades. Is the subject matter expert for storage in disaster recovery planning. Essential Duties: * Participates with Project Management Office (PMO) representatives and IT&S Technology Architects/Senior engineers to implement new projects and service requests. * Ensures proper transition of operational documentation and necessary training to appropriate operational teams. * Assist tier 1 server and storage support organization in the timely resolution of Service Desk Trouble Tickets and related issues. Creates training and documentation relating to processes and solutions that can be addressed by tier 1 personnel. * Completion of work request activity submitted via Service Request System. * Monitors, tracks, and documents allocations and utilization across enterprise storage systems. * Allocates LUNs on disk arrays and virtual storage. * Provides tuning, re-engineering, capacity planning, and performance monitoring for storage systems. ? * Provides support for service disruptions, project-associated needs, continuous service improvement, and develops documentation relevant to ensure customer service and business continuity objectives are achieved. ? * Develops reports on historical, current, and future needs for storage systems - both local and independent systems. * Performs hardware management, which includes the tasks of installation of Host Bus Adapters (HBA), SAN switches and other storage related devices. * Coordinates testing, upgrades and configuration of storage system services. Ensures changes are in accordance with appropriate operating procedures; recommends revisions or changes based upon results. Prepares for and prescribes approaches to foreseen bottlenecks and challenges. * Oversees and implements system upgrade strategies. Evaluates products and upgrades for appropriateness. * Troubleshoots routine system issues in accordance with standard procedures; develops appropriate course of action and escalates as appropriate. * Participates in on-call service rotation; provides 24 x 7 production support on a rotating basis. * Performs occasional night/weekend work as required due to environmental constraints. ? Position Requirements: * Five or more years experience with computer storage systems required. * Experience with server systems, storage arrays, fabric configurations, maintenance and configuration software required. * Must be detail-oriented and organized, with good analytical and problem solving ability. * Notable client service, communication, presentation and relationship building skills required. * Ability to function independently and as a team player in a fast-paced environment required . * Must have strong written and verbal communication skills. * Ability to effectively document processes required. * Must be self-starter who is inspired by technology, highly organized, and ability to work with minimal supervision. * Excellent skills with Microsoft Office Suite including Visio and Project required. Education Requirements: * High School diploma or equivalent required. * Bachelor's Degree preferred. Preferred Qualifications: SNIA, MSCE, MCP, or equivalent preferred.
