Department Overview The Electric Transmission Design Engineering team isresponsible for civil and electrical project engineering work; and civil and electrical design work for PG&E transmission lines. The team is responsible for the following: * Transmission tower engineering and design * Engineering and designof wood pole structures in heavy loading areas * Engineering and design of foundations, grading, and site improvements * Engineering and design of overhead conductor and associated line equipment * Engineering and design of underground cables,structures and appurtenances * Engineering and design of NERC compliance work * Preparation and issuance of construction drawings and as-built prints * Seismic retrofit of equipment * Technical coordination with Substation engineering anddesign * Technical consultation (project options); industry liaison (IEEE, equipment vendors, utilities) * Project scope; detailed estimates; material lists * Equipment specification; vendor production slots; bulk material pricing advantages *Construction support; training; follow-up; corrective action process * Technical assistance on feasibility projects Position Summary The Supervising Engineer will be leading a group responsible for managing the design and engineering work bothinternally and outsourced to engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contractors and engineering only contractors. The job will be responsible for 1) the budget, schedule, scope and quality of design and engineering work 2) developing an effective longterm relationship with the contractors that will focus on a win-win situation for both PG&E and the contractor 3) developing, tracking and communicating key performance metrics such as design cycle time, quality, cost and schedule attainment 4) reaching outto stakeholders such as construction, maintenance and operation for their feedback and areas for improvement. Qualifications Minimum: * 5 years relevant supervisory experience including transmission lines, civil structures and project engineering. * Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering Desired: * Registered Civil PE * Knowledge of Transmission or Substation engineering, design or construction experience * Familiarity with PG&E standards and designprocesses * Familiarity with contracting process * Knowledge of civil engineering practices, standards and implementations * Knowledge of PG&E's electric substation and transmission line facilities * Experience with supervision in project anddesign engineering * Strong verbal and written communication skills * Influence skills * Collaboration and interpersonal skills * Knowledge of Engineers and Scientist of Californian (ESC) Union Contract. * Familiarity with G.O.95 *Strong MS Office skills: Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Project Responsibilities * Supervise and lead a team of 8-12 project engineers and engineering designers * Provide open and honest communication of company objectives and initiatives.Foster team work and innovation, and embrace new approaches to accomplish our work more efficiently and effectively. Promote accountability and drive employee satisfaction through employee engagement, recognition and coaching. Actively recruit to fill vacancies andadminister the ESC labor contract. * Actively promote safe practices and conduct in accordance with the Corporate Safety policy. Ensure a safe work environment and manage overall safety for the group. Review safety topics at regular group meetings and completeall mandated safety training on time.
