Department Overview The men and women of Electric Operations ensure thedelivery of safe and reliable electric service to our customers. Electric Operations is responsible for every aspect of PG&E's electric distribution and transmission operations, including planning, engineering, maintenance and construction, asset management,business planning, restoration and emergency response. Position Summary This is a journey level electrical owner's engineer job that requires mastery of the substation associate level owner's and project engineer duties. The Owner's Engineer overseesour alliance engineering firms to lead simple to medium size substation engineering and design projects. The candidate should have knowledge of substation engineering concepts, principles, and practices to resolve problems with only general direction. Researchesand identifies practical solutions to solve complex problems. Reviews and negotiates engineering and design proposals, ensure adherence to the TD-3330P work procedure, check the accuracy and completeness of the final project scope, review and accept constructiondrawings, provide engineering support during construction, ensure all job close out duties, such as as-built review meeting, etc., are complete. Also acts as a subject matter expert on select substation equipment. Qualifications Minimum: * BSDegree in Electrical Engineering or a related technical discipline from an accredited curriculum in the US or the equivalent from outside the US. * Mastery of the Associate level engineer job duties and demonstrated knowledge in Substation/ElectricalEngineering and the ability to perform the basic duties of the Journey Level Engineer. Meets specific technical requirements gained through a minimum of three (3) years of cumulative experience in substation electrical engineering and design. Desired: * Ability to handle multiple substation projects without supervision and serve as team leader. * Successfully negotiate cost effective solutions beneficial to our customers and PG&E. * Complete substation assignments with few or noprecedents or standards. * Apply extensive knowledge of concepts, principles and practices in a specific field or area of expertise to resolve problems. * Current California PE license highly desirable. Responsibilities Resolve problems ofcomplex scope. Serve as a key technical resource within area of specialization. Apply creativity or new approaches to assignments that may be unique. Lead others on technically complex projects. Regularly uses discretion and independent judgment in fulfilling thesejob functions. * Perform the functions of Associate and Journey level Engineer * Manage multiple projects and perform engineering analyses, studies, and develop conceptual designs. * Develop innovative solutions to solve challenging technicalissues. * Acts as a lead in root cause analysis and makes recommendations to address local and system-wide problems. * Develop technical procedures and contributes to the development of standards, specifications, construction documents, and guidelines. * May represent PG&E at external industry associations, committees, trade organizations and other inter-utility groups. * Establish and maintain professional relationships with our external business partners.
