Openings nationwide! No Relocation but travel to 90%

Substation Engineer
Minimum Qualifications:
Requires a Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or Electrical Engineering Technology
Successful completion of the Fundamentals of Engineering Examination (FE) or (EIT)
Successful completion of the Professional Engineering Examination or the ability to obtain Professional
Engineering License within three (3) years of employment
At least 3 years' experience in Power Engineering. Prefer experience in electrical substation testing, construction, maintenance, troubleshooting, assembly and commissioning
Must have a valid driver's license
Able to follow company safety rules and practices
The ability to diagnose complex mechanical and electrical problems
Must have strong PC skills to include Microsoft Office

Job Responsibilities and Expectations:
Execute mechanical and electrical tasks on equipment utilized in Power Transmission, Distribution, and Generation
Read and interpret manuals, schematics, and wiring diagrams in order to troubleshoot and solve equipment problems
Troubleshoot, repair, replace and clean all components in a substation
Will be trained as needed and required to perform the following tasks
o Transformer testing - Power Factor, TTR, Insulation resistance, SFRA, winding resistance and leakage reactance
o Cable testing - Insulation resistance, Tan Delta, VLF, Hipot, TDR and cable thumper
o Low, medium and high voltage circuit breaker testing- Insulation resistance, contact resistance, Power Factor, breaker timing, SF6 gas analysis, CT testing, high current testing, secondary injection tests, and vacuum bottle integrity tests
o SF6 breaker maintenance- operate and maintain Dilo SF6 gas recovery cart, perform internal inspection of breakers, mechanism replacement, and interrupter teardowns
o Test both electro-mechanical and solid state relays
Participate in the installation, maintenance and repair of electrical equipment
Must be willing to take calls and give technical advice outside of the normal workday
Will be trained as needed to supervise projects and be able to support management in the planning,
scheduling, execution and cost management of field projects

Additional Requirements:
NETA certified a plus, but not required
Must be willing to obtain a company paid TWIC card, OSHA 30 hour, MSHA, NFPA 70-E, and CPR training
Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug/alcohol test and periodic, unannounced random testing
Must be able to pass a pre-employment criminal background check
Plan, develop and participate in safety meetings and training
Rotate emergency on-call duty and if called respond to customer emergencies in a timely manner
Must be able to travel on overnight, multi-day, out-of-town jobs - up to 90%
Must be willing and able to work regular overtime including nights, weekends and some holidays
Must be able to lift and maneuver 50 lbs
Must be willing to work with your hands, this is not a 40 hour a week office job
