Job Description

Our client is a leading provider of network-enabled services and mobile applications for medical groups and health systems.

They are located just few miles from Harvard Square and Downtown Boston.

Responsible for execution on large complex software development projects including design, implementation, testing, and documentation. Staff developers influence and lead teams of developers on these projects as well as interacting and communicating with stakeholders and other R&D teams and mentoring less experienced developers.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

80% [Primary Function]

  • Design and develop software to support client's products and services. This involves:
    • Actively learning the product/service space from team members and stakeholders.
    • Applying rigorous engineering practices to solving the complex problems presented.
    • Understanding clients coding conventions and development policies and applying them to their work and in their codechecks of others work.
    • Understanding the system and devising/executing solid testing strategies for the team's functionality.
    • Teaching others on what they have learned, including writing appropriate technical documentation.
    • Providing status on development tasks to supervisors and stakeholders.
    • Influence team members and others by providing technical leadership.


  • Participate in various civic responsibilities including but not limited to:
    • Developer Interview team; conducting interviews, reviewing interview puzzle solutions, and helping improve the process.
    • Participate in developer education such as developer seminars and new hire education; teaching and learning new technical & business concepts.
    • Participate in developing and promoting best practices for development such as writing technical policies and learning about and participating in production issue reviews.
    • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or equivalent

Education, Experience, & Skills Required:

    • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or equivalent
      • 6 years of experience in a software engineering role
      • Exceptional programming and architectural skills
      • Experience with automated testing of software projects
      • Substantial expertise in a programming language such as Perl, Python, C/C++, or Javascript
      • Preferred skills include web development, microservices, Perl, JavaScript, RDBMS (particularly Oracle)
      • Experience with healthcare technology highly desirable
      • Experience with Agile development is a plus
