Generator Source/Diesel Service & Supply is a growing industrial power generator distributor that buys and sells surplus and used commercial power generation equipment throughout the world. We are currently looking to add a highly motivated and qualified Shop Supervisor and Service Manager to join our team. We are a family owned company located in Brighton, Colorado that has been in the power generation industry for over 30 years. Our focus is on low-hour industrial diesel and natural gas generators for backup and emergency power that are 20 kW to 2500 kW. We only work with top name brands like Cummins, Caterpillar, Kohler, Generac, John Deere, MTU Onsite Energy and more. We are searching for a career oriented individual with top-notch shop and service management skills and a focus on customer service. Responsibilities: Oversee daily operations of the service shop and staff of diesel power generation technicians, mechanics, fabricators, crane operators and shipping and receiving personnel. Assign work tasks to staff and billing of labor to specific accounts. Provide quotes for labor and supplies as needed to complete customer requests. Ensure production and shipping schedules are achieved on time and on budget. Coordinate with sales to develop estimates on internal service work required on individual generator sets. Communicate with accounting on daily basis on work order statuses and misc. needs, this position is held accountable for cost control and management. Open and close Work Orders in a timely fashion using our internal accounting system Coordinate with Shipping and Receiving on generators being checked-in or shipped out, utilize processes and procedures to ensure all equipment leaves in best possible condition Procure parts and materials for projects as needed Negotiate dedicated vendor supplier networks, and apply purchases to accounts. Daily - morning review of shop staff times they input using our Time Clock Plus Online software, make adjustments as needed and appropriately allocate expenses to units. Manage shop appearance and organization and work with sales team on preparing units for on-site customer visits and load bank tests. Work with Inventory team to make sure yard is organized and efficient and inventory on the website is accurate, updated and presented in the best possible way Responsible for safety training and holding safety meetings. Periodically conduct inventory audits Over time begin to optimize processes and work flow to keep costs down and streamline operations Direct investigations to establish root cause for customer or shipper complaints and initiate procedural changes or disciplinary action to ensure compliance with customer satisfaction. Participate in setting up a customer service program for on-site and field service work And other duties as assigned Requirements: Minimum 3-5 years of experience managing service work and/or a shop related environment Excellent leadership and communication skills - you need to keep the shop on task and motivated and also communicate with our corporate office on a daily basis to keep management updated. Background with power generation, diesel engine technology and/or electrical devices is required Experience working with industrial diesel engines and/or commercial power generators is BIG plus but is not required. Ability to quickly learn and process information - generator technology is rapidly advancing and we are always pushing to upgrade internal systems. Customer Service Centered - must be able to effectively communicate with customers on new work and all issues as they arise. Problem Solver - every day up here throws a curve ball so need someone who won't melt when the pressure is on Must be able to deal with stress effectively and accept responsibility. Understanding of basic accounting principles, inventory management and cost control is required. Requires previous supervisory experience, ability to effectively work with and train others. Computer literate - familiar with MS Office (specifically Word and Excel), web browser usage and also need to be able to learn our internal software systems to enter daily service work orders, close work orders, input cost detail, open and close purchase orders, etc...
