Position Description: The Staff Systems Engineer will be responsible for leading the Systems Software Group in the engineering organization for Systron Donner Inertial, a brand of InnoVista Sensors. This exempt level position is located in our Concord, CA office and reports to our Director of Engineering - Systems.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities (other duties may be assigned):

. Analyze performance of inertial/navigation systems
. Design and characterize digital filters and sensor signal processing
. Design INS/GPS Kalman filter algorithm models
. Evaluate INS/GPS error budgets from top level requirements
. GPS receiver understanding and error mechanism analysis
. Generate, review and approve system and software/firmware requirements
. Propose strap-down navigation equations design methods and test methods
. Understand inertial instruments error mechanisms
. Provide complex modeling for improving sensor performance
. Lead or participate in new product development through complete life-cycle
. Provide research and analysis support to projects/programs
. Make key contributions to product and technology road-map
. Provide leadership and management for the systems software team
. Stay current in inertial systems design and navigation methods
. Prepare relevant literature for conferences or technical interchanges

Position Requirements: Education:
. MS or PhD in Technical field (Physics, EE, ME)

. 7+ years in systems engineering and design
. Inertial sensors and navigation systems
. INS/GPS Kalman filter algorithm methodologies
. GPS receiver understanding and error mechanism analysis
. Engineering requirements generation and review
. Systems production test flow
. New product research and development
. Technical leadership or management

Preferred Experience (not required):
. Experience with FAA certification of inertial systems
. History of using C/C++, for both simulation and embedded solutions

Required Skills:
. Highly Competent in MATLAB / Simulink
. Must have excellent understanding of physical processes
. Good understanding of software and hardware interfaces
. Strong research skills
. Strong leadership skills
. Ability to manage time-sensitive priorities in fast-paced, sometimes ambiguous situations
. Outstanding communications skills and the ability to convey complex ideas to customers and sales and marketing team
. System modeling and data analysis
