Job Description:

SUMMARY:

Join a global leader utilizing manufacturing technologies that improve cutting edge solutions for the automotive industry. This position will be primarily responsible for production floor support and process improvement for the production of complex, tight tolerance components utilizing various equipment including high finishing systems, centerless grinders, wire drawing and pin cutoff equipment, metal forming equipment, and surface finishing equipment.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Plan and conduct work requiring judgment in independent evaluations, selection, and substantial adaptation and modification of standard techniques, procedures, and criteria; this requires devising new approaches to problems encountered utilizing established problem solving tools and techniques (i.e. A3, 8D, fishbone, 5Why, etc.).
  • Independently perform most assignments with instructions about the general results expected; receive technical guidance on complex problems and acquire supervisory approval on proposed plans for projects.
  • Plan, schedule, conduct, and coordinate detailed phases of the engineering work in part of a major project or in a total project of moderate scope.
  • Plan and design manufacturing processes in an industrial plant; maximize efficiency by analyzing layout of equipment, workflow, assembly methods, and work force utilization.
  • Determine robust parts, tools, processes, and equipment needed in order to achieve manufacturing goals according to product specification.
  • Procurement of new equipment to support capacity uplifts and new programs.
  • Perform work that involves conventional engineering practices; control a variety of complex features such as conflicting design requirements, unsuitability of standard materials, and difficult coordination requirements.
  • Retain a broad knowledge of precedents in the specialty area and a firm understanding of principles and practices of related specialties; may supervise a few engineers or technicians on assigned work when needed.
  • Provide a smooth interchange of ideas and information between supervisor, engineers, co-workers, and customers (both internal and external); possess and utilize strong methodical problem solving skills to drive to the root cause and implement sustainable corrective actions (DMAIC model).
  • Communicate effectively to all stakeholders including plant personnel, management, and external customers.
  • Responsible for completing required safety training, reporting and correcting any unsafe practices as appropriate, completing work activities in a safe manner, and complying with safety and health requirements for respective position.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering and 5+ years of experience.
  • Experience with equipment specification, project management and manufacturing processes.
  • Experience in the automotive industry preferred.
  • Must be a highly motivated self-starter with exemplary organizational skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication abilities
