SENIOR ENVIRONMENTAL ENGINEER JOB DESCRIPTION - Central Florida

Overview

A Senior Environmental Engineer must have the physical, developmental and mental ability to perform job tasks, work efforts, responsibilities and duties of the job as illustrated below:

Key Responsibilities / Essential Functions

  • Execution of traditional and environmental engineering projects involving both existing and innovative technologies for cleanup/removal of hazardous wastes, contaminated soils and groundwater

  • Oversee project staff (engineers, scientists, project managers, field services staff) and subcontractors

  • Manage all aspects of assigned projects including technical, budgetary, and schedule to maintain client satisfaction and repeat business

  • Provide technical expertise to project teams within company

  • Prepare proposals

  • Work effectively with minimal supervision

  • Develop new business opportunities and expand business with existing clients

  • Provide effective communication with staff and corporate officers

  • Other duties as necessary

    Minimum Requirements

  • Minimum of 10+ years of environmental consulting and design experience to support projects involving site investigations, remediation, regulatory compliance and environmental permitting for groundwater, soil, soil vapor, air and regulated waste. Primary responsibilities include: project or technical management of site investigation/remediation including conducting feasibility studies, evaluation of remedial technologies, design and implementation of in-situ and ex-situ remedial approaches, oversight of operations and maintenance of remediation equipment/installations, remedial system design specification compliance and optimization, facility compliance evaluations, emissions calculations, regulatory applicability reviews (review/interpretation of environmental regulations), engaging staff in field data collection and interpretation, permit preparation, and completion of reports. Working knowledge of the Resource Conservation and Recovery Act program, the Clean Water Act, Clean Air Act and familiarity of the Florida Department of Environmental Protection regulations required.

  • A Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Environmental, Chemical, Mechanical, Process)

  • Florida PE registration, relevant hands-on experience and management experience of subcontractors, scheduling, and agency negotiations required.

  • Air and water modeling, CAD, Microsoft Office Suite and Microsoft Project and/or Primavera P6 preferred

  • OSHA 40-hr HAZWOPER training preferred

  • Strong skills in project estimating, budgeting, cost management and management of staff

  • Experience in serving public and private sector clients including: development of technical approach, budget and schedule, monitoring project performance, client and regulatory interface and delivery of technically superior work products

  • Must be highly motivated, customer focused and able to work well as a team lead

  • Must have excellent interpersonal, communication (written and oral), teamwork, leadership, organizational and negotiating skills

  • Ability to travel, including some overnight

  • Preferred proficiency in CRM, Primavera, E Time Machine

  • Pre-employment drug screen according to A.C.T's Drug Free Workplace policy

  • Acceptable driving record in accordance with A.C.T's Insurance & Driving policy

  • Satisfactory background check
