General Job Description:
The position is responsible for controlling hazardous conditions resulting from equipment, machine operations, or human error, which may lead to human injury and/or property damage. Utilizes knowledge of industrial processes, mechanics, chemistry, psychology, and industrial health and safety laws in order to develop procedures and design systems to prevent human injury and/or property damage.
Recommend process and product safety features that will reduce employee's exposure to physical and chemical work hazards.
Inspects and audits facilities, machinery, safety equipment, and new construction to identify and correct potential hazards and to ensure safety regulation compliance.
Determines requirements for safety clothing and devices, and designs, builds, and installs, or directs installation of safety devices on machinery.
Investigate industrial accidents and injuries to determine causes and preventive measures.
Review plans and specifications for construction of new machinery and equipment to determine whether all safety regulations and procedures have been met
Report and review findings from accident investigations, facility inspections, and environmental testing.
Conduct and/or coordinate testing of air quality, noise levels, and temperature levels, to verify compliance with health and safety regulations. Monitors plant ventilation.
Write and revise safety procedures.
Conduct and coordinate worker training in areas such as safety laws and regulations, hazardous condition monitoring, and use of safety equipment.
Provide technical advice to the organization on how to handle health related issues.
Interpret safety regulations and provide feedback to plant departments.
Maintain liaisons with outside organizations, such as fire department, DEQ, OSHA, rescue teams, and contractor vendors.
Design of new systems safety systems to include safety monitoring systems, such and security doors and security camera and safety software.
Develop lock out procedures for new equipment and improve lock out procedures on exiting equipment.
Minimum Qualifications or Requirements:
Bachelor' degree in Engineering
2 years' minimum experience in manufacturing environment
Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal skills
Demonstrated proficiency in analytical problem solving techniques, good organizational skills, and the ability to work on wide variety of projects simultaneously with minimal supervision.
