Position Overview

The Service Engineer is responsible for providing installation, maintenance, repair and support of Durr products and machines at various customer locations. Service Engineers are also responsible for monitoring service calls, maintaining the appropriate reports and documentation required for each service call, suggesting modifications of DRR equipment and conducting customer trainings, in addition to providing training and support to other Service personnel.

Primary Functions & Responsibilities

  • Provide on-call technical phone support and field response to equipment and customer issues
  • Perform any preventative maintenance as requested by the customer to ensure optimum operation and a minimum down time of machines and equipment
  • Perform emergency service at the customer's locations as needed to ensure the full functionality of Drr equipment
  • Provide required service documentation and daily/weekly service reportsrelating to all functions performed
  • Provide technical support and customer training
  • Provide support and training to other Service Engineers in the department
  • Gain new service customers by reaching out to other companies and providing technical information on Drr services
  • Gather information at customer sites regarding process and quality concerns which can be used to come up with new technologies or solutions to create new business opportunities
  • Promote Drr Ecoclean and its products, processes and values
  • Other duties as assigned

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Ability and willingness to learn Drr project processes and understanding of automation and industrial washer components, their functionality and operation
  • Ability to diagnose and repair service problems independently
  • Exceptional organizational skills
  • Highly developed oral and written communication skills
  • Excellent work ethic and the ability to work independently and with little supervision
  • Ability to read mechanical, electrical and pneumatic drawings
  • Ability to read and understand PLC software and implement updates is preferred
  • A strong technical aptitude and ability to trouble shoot issues and recommend solutions
  • Beyond general industrial machine knowledge position requires specialization in either mechanical or controls/robotics
  • Ability to work onsite within the Drr office or at customer locations as required

Special Position Requirements

  • Frequent domestic and international travel as required by the customer; must be able to travel, and maintain the ability to travel to customers as required
  • Ability to travel on short notice even on weekends and holidays
  • Ability to be available and on-call 24 hours per day
  • Ability to interact professionally with customers and suppliers who may, occasionally be difficult to deal with
  • Ability to resolve conflict while keeping relationships in tact

Minimum Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED; BS/BA in a technical field (Electrical or Mechanical) preferred
  • 3+ years in equipment maintenance/service/repair experience required
  • 2+ years of experience with mechanical design of structures and mechanisms of varying degrees of complexity
  • 2+ years of experience using Microsoft Office applications

Physical Demands

  • Must have adequate finger dexterity for drafting and computer use
  • The position involves reading, writing, mathematics and measuring
  • Ability to lift at least 50 pounds, and have the ability to climb, stand, stoop or kneel for extended periods of time
  • Ability to safely climb ladders up to 15 feet
  • Ability to safely operate and navigate a motorized lift up to 35 feet
  • Ability to travel for extended periods of time via air travel and/or vehicle travel

Work Environment

  • Majority of work takes place on a manufacturing shop floor, which could involve exposure to hazards
  • Work surfaces may be slippery, uneven or unstable
  • Shop temperatures may not always be controlled and could vary from hot to cold, depending on the season
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate; in some instances this job may require work in areas where ear protection is necessary
