Job Description

DESCRIPTION

The position for a Quality Engineer encompasses the ability to perform root cause analysis and implementation of corrective action for process-related concerns. The QE will also assist in maintaining the quality management system (QMS) documentation. Additionally, the QE is responsible for continual improvement activities to enhance the quality system, such as 5K, Kaizen, and lean methods.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develop trainingto build quality awareness
  • Interface with Engineering and Operations to ensure transfer of new products are in accordance with approved data
  • Support the quality inspectors/technicians to ensure that products and processes comply with the relevant requirements of the quality management system
  • Conduct internal audits, including closing out audit findings, creating audits finding reports and determining proper corrective and preventive actions
  • Analyze failure, corrective and preventive action to respond to customer complaints
  • Maintain company quality documentation, such as quality manual, quality procedures
  • Responsible for planning, organizing and managing the overall activities of receiving/outgoing quality functions
  • Continuously improving QA receiving inspection processes and procedures
  • Ensure timely resolution of supplier failure, corrective actions and preventive actions
  • Manage suppliers' performance and conduct audits
  • Preparation of QA reports/QA trending data
  • Address non-conformities from previous internal and external audits
  • Responsible for Supplier Quality Management and Supplier process improvement
    • Collect and evaluate supplier quality data to identify process improvement opportunities within the supply chain
    • Work with supplier directly; create corrective action plans to address process failures
    • Review supplier manufacturing process, collaborate with suppliers on process improvement and value added opportunities
    • Regularly communicate with Operations, Purchasing, Supply Chain to identify opportunities for quality and productivity improvement
    • Assist Supply Chain in conducting on-site supplier audits
  • Participate in QMS meetings and present purchased parts or product quality issues
  • Investigate reported external quality issues that are purchased part or product driven and present findings at QMS Meetings.
  • Perform root cause analysis on purchased parts or product quality issues and work issue through containment phase of corrective action process
  • Communicate and work with suppliers on the use of a corrective action process using quality tools
  • Support supplier qualification

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Strong analytical skills
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Experience in developing certification processes and vendor quality measures
  • Experience in Lean, DFSS, FMEA, DMAIC methodologies
  • Strong interpersonal and customer interface skills
  • Ability to lead and facilitate cross-functional teams

COMPUTER SKILLS

  • Proficient in the use of MS Office software, Excel, Word, PowerPoint
  • Minitab software experience
  • Working knowledge of ERP systems; preferably Oracle

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • BS in Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering or Mechanical Engineering or related field
  • Minimum of five-years of quality engineering or related field
  • Prefer bilingual English and Mandarin
