Job Description

Quality Engineer Responsibilities / Duties

  • Lead business in establishing, implementing and maintaining the Quality Operating System (QOS) and facilitate ISO Certification.
  • Create and maintain company quality documentation (Level 1-4) and ensure evidence of manufacturing control through establishment of control plans (MCP). Develop and deliver quality training materials. Establish and complete product standards and SOP in support of QOS.
  • Develop and implement quality programs, including tracking, analyzing, reporting and problem solving. Develop product standards and test methods to improve and ensure outgoing product and service quality and conformance.
  • Maintain, acquire and facilitate product certifications and approvals at Federal, State and Municipal levels. Prepare and assist in bid specifications and proposals.
  • Responsible for continual improvement activities to enhance the quality system such as application of lean problem solving and kaizen methodologies.
  • Analyze failure, corrective and preventive action to respond to customer complaints. Maintain corrective action response system (CAR).
  • Interface with engineering and operations to ensure transfer to production of new products in accordance with specifications and customer requirements. Assist in research and product development.
  • Conduct audits, close out audit findings, create audit reports and determine proper corrective and preventive actions. Root cause analysis and implementation of corrective action for process-related deficiencies.
  • Monitor suppliers' performance and conduct audits as required. Ensure timely resolution of supplier failure, corrective actions and preventive actions.

Job Requirements / Prerequisites

  • Bachelor's Degrees in an applied science or related engineering field required.
  • Minimum 3 years' experience working in an operations environment, preferably in a quality, technical or operations leadership role. ISO or certification experience.
  • Strong communication (written and verbal) and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of statistical methods & process improvement techniques. Experience with the use of Minitab a plus.
  • Proficiency with maintaining Quality Operating Systems.
  • Demonstrated ability and willingness to work "hands-on" with manufacturing and engineering in leading continuous improvement projects and activities.
  • Knowledge of quality test equipment and procedures.
  • Quality Engineering experience. ASQ certified CQM, CQE, CQA.
  • Lean/Six Sigma background.
