The Transportation & Public Works Stormwater Management Division reviews plans for all the private development in the City of Fort Worth and surrounding ETJ territories to insure the hydraulics, hydrology, and plans conform to the iSWM and City of Fort Worth standards. This includes from the preliminary planning to the study phase through plan reviews. Coordination with the outside development community as well and internal City departments is a key component to the success of this position. We are seeking a unique person who understands not only the technical side of the hydraulics and hydrology and iSWMs, but also has the ability to apply these concepts to proposed projects to ensure that new development does not increase the risk of flooding to adjacent properties or roads. To qualify, you would need a Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in Civil Engineering or related field plus four (4) years of increasingly responsible civil engineering experience with two (2) years experience in water resources/drainage planning. Previous experience in working in a Municipality or Government Agency is preferred.This position will require you to be a Professional Engineer in the State of Texas or if licensed in another state, your continued employment will be contingent upon obtaining registration as a Professional Engineer, within the State of Texas, within six (6) months of employment. You will need a valid driver's license and an acceptable driving record and you must be able to pass a drug test and criminal background check.Skill sets would require A working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. A strong interpersonal, management, and excellent communications skills with the unique ability to be able to transfer these concepts clearly and effectively both verbally and written with the development community and internal City staff. The City utilizes outside review Consultants to help in this task so a portion of your job will be to review and assist them for the quality and completeness of their work as well as dealing with any issues, timing, or other areas such as City Ordinances and Standards to name a few.
