PRODUCTION ENGINEER

The production engineer is a member of the production team in the Chemical Manufacturing area of the plant. The individual reports to the Area or Operations Manager. The production engineer is assigned a segment of the process for which he/she has responsibilities for as outlined below.

* Becomes a process expert and gains in-depth knowledge of:

* Factors that represent safety risks and the systems in place to mitigate the risks

* Process chemistry

* Cost drivers

* Control logic

* Mass and energy balances

* Equipment operation, technical how's/why's

* Ensures systems are in place to track key process parameters and overall process performance.

* Monitors the performance of the area on a daily basis to ensure the process is in control, operating in a safe manner, and operating within established control limits.

* Primary technical support resource for the technicians. Effectively and consistently communicates with the technicians on a daily basis to understand current process issues/concerns, communicate plans to address issues, and provide both ongoing and project related technical training.

* Is knowledgeable of, and participates in, the resolution of maintenance issues.

* Is knowledgeable of the major maintenance cost drivers in an area and works on addressing these issues.

* Provides safe, cost effective, and easy to operate detailed process designs for process changes. Takes the lead in implementing these changes.

* Manages both small scale and large scale projects from conception through start-up.

* Takes the lead in commissioning and start-up of large scale projects including writing SOP's, start-up planning/scheduling, training, and commissioning.

* Develops projects to improve safety, reduce costs, improve quality, reduce environmental impacts and increase throughput.

* Excellent technical and intrapersonal skills

Educational Requirements:

BS Degree Chemical Engineering

Work Experience:

1 to 3 years in manufacturing process showing growth in responsibilities
