Job Description:

Job Summary:As a member of the Product Development team, the Product Safety Engineer will be responsible for supporting product safety and regulatory compliance for the company. The ideal candidate will help with the development and coordination of a variety of engineering assignments to ensure product compliance with Federal, State and International standards. Job Profile: Participate in design-project meetings, Design Reviews, FMEA's and Hazard Reviews making design or test recommendations that assure design and use comply with relevant standards. Build and maintain a repository of applicable standards to be referenced during new product concepts, design changes, and compliance audits Work with Quality, Product Development, and Marketing to advise and approve of appropriate product warnings and other government agency compliance labels Provide guidance, create standards for, and review and approve published marketing content to ensure consistency with applicable regulations, guidelines and practices Create instruction manuals for company products which include copy, warnings, cautions and instructions in adherence with applicable standards Takes the lead in providing compliance information, such as CARB and Prop 65, and coordinating that approval agency requirements are satisfied in technical literature Leads / Participates in product safety, regulatory, or quality concern activities and ensures timely issue resolution Build and Maintain a repository of accessible product test results and certifications Advises Product Team of any current and upcoming agency changes that may affect our products' performance and/or ability to remain in the marketplace Works with Product Engineering when cost improvement and product improvement are suggested to ensure product safety and compliance is considered Manages the interaction and costs associated with various compliance agencies Assist in developing and improving engineering procedures Education and/or Experience: A Bachelor Degree in engineering, or related discipline required 3+ years of experience required Knowledge of Hazards Based Safety Engineering (HBSE) preferred Knowledge of Hazardous substance regulations (Prop 65, RoHS, REACH, WEEE, etc.) preferred Experience and knowledge of compliance standards (UL, CE, IEC, CSA, ANSI, ASME, CPSC/CPSIA preferred)
