Job Description

Objective: Under the leadership of the Manufacturing Engineering Manager, provide service and support to both internal

and external customers, maintain records, participate in product improvement and validation processes, cost

reduction initiatives and perform other related work as assigned.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Associates Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering Technology; Bachelor's degree in either discipline is preferred.
  • 2 years solid modeling experience using SolidWorks, Pro E, Inventor or equivalent.
  • 3D CAD modeling experience; SolidWorks preferred

Job Requirements:

  • Ability to comprehend and execute work assignments with minimal follow up supervision
  • Ability to effectively communicate customer's needs to internal groups.
  • Exceptional communication and organizational skills
  • Exceptional math, reasoning and problem solving skills
  • Knowledge of principles of Lean Manufacturing and the ability to implement into production processes, product design and development.
  • Computer Aided Design (CAD) skills, SolidWorks preferred
  • Software experience with MS Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint and Access
  • TS 16949 OR ISO9000 experience in an automotive related manufacturing environment.
  • SolidWorks experience at a beginner or intemediate level
  • Automotive experience and familiarity with AIAG, TS 16949, or ISO9000 standards
  • Working knowledge of GD&T standards

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Execute Engineering assignments to support the manufacturing of production products.
  • Provide Engineering support for production department concerns and continuous improveme nt projects.
  • - Management of product change activities
  • - Deveolop product change requests and facilitate customer approval
  • - Coordinate design development for customer requested changes
  • - Manufacturing site changes
  • - Internal Database (NPD) record maintenance
  • - Engineering support documentation as required by the ECN process
  • In conjunction with the quallity department; coordinate and oversee validation of new components and materials for production use. (standard products)
  • Ongoing technical development, implementation of design standards and best practdices and standardization of product;
  • Provide leadership to the Erie and Falconer continuous improvement teams to ensure benefits of improvement activities and communicated and realized in both manufacturing sites.
  • Develop external partnerships with key customer engineering contacts to promote PDI as a technical/engineering resource.
  • Support Manufacturing group with incorporating design changes through launch process.
  • Manage ECN system, provide review, approval and implementation functions.
