Process Engineer leading manufacturer - glass industery

Reporting to the General Manager, The Process Engineer position is responsible for providing technological and engineering support to the plant's facility, equipment, production processes and products to ensure reliability and optimum use of resources. The incumbent also provides continuous improvements in the areas of safety, quality and value.

Principal Accountabilities include: 

  • Evaluate processes in manufacturing systems and glass processing equipment with an emphasis on efficiency improvements through automation
  • Maintain reliable and safe manufacturing systems while improving production rates, efficiencies, yields, costs and changeovers
  • Able to specify, help procure, install, test, maintain, troubleshoot and repair electromechanical equipment, including but not limited to PLC controls and controllers used to process glass
  • Improve process capability and production volume while maintaining and improving quality standards.
  • Work with equipment designers and manufacturing officers to develop a cost-effective and working production process
  • Research and purchase new glass processing manufacturing technology
  • Troubleshoot and advise on equipment and process corrective actions
  • Support the development and implementation of preventive maintenance programs for new equipment.
  • Source and manage outside expertise to assist in projects when needed
  • Train team members at all levels on new equipment
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Must have 3+ glass industry experience in the areas of tempering, coating, heat treating, silk-screening, vacuum insulated glass products.
  • Bachelor's degree or 5+ years as process engineer in glass industry and Associates degree.
  • Possess working knowledge of all plant operations including electrical, pneumatic, mechanical and hydraulic systems
  • Must be able to work in a hands-on manner to install, maintain, and operate equipment
  • Working knowledge of electrical and mechanical systems required; knowledge of chemistry a plus
  • Must have the ability to read prints, manuals, and schematics
  • Lean Manufacturing experience
