Job Description

Powders Production Engineer

Location: Plaquemine, LA

Salary: $90k - $120k, plus competitive bonus, benefits, retirement and relocation package

Job summary:

Global SPECIALTY CHEMICAL manufacturer is currently seeking a Polymers Powders Production Engineer located at their new state of the art facility in Plaquemine. The position will report to the Powders Plant Manager and provide technical and production leadership to the Powders Plant. This position will play a critical role in the troubleshooting and growth of the plant. This position is responsible for technical and production aspects of the Powders manufacturing process and associated equipment. This includes continual improvement in all key performance indicators. This position will work closely with the Plant Manager, Plant Supervisor, Shift Supervisors and Process Engineers (part of the onsite Engineering department).

RESPONSIBILITIES:

. Maintain and monitor daily production and quality metrics as well as operation log books to ensure optimal plant operation and accurate reporting

. Continually optimize production operations to maximize the Efficiency and On-Stream-Time of the manufacturing equipment

. Lead safety training, conduct behavior based safety audits, and provide a strong safety presence in the plant

. Develop, revise and review standard operating procedures to meet ISO9001 and PSM requirements

. Minimize/eliminate out of specification production by efficiently troubleshooting process issues and ensuring equipment is maintained in the condition that is required

. Conduct thorough/appropriate non-conforming product and customer complaint investigations necessary to identify root causes and effective corrective/preventive action to continuously reduce the amount of off-spec production and customer complaints

. Investigate/identify causes of waste generation in order to minimize the amount of waste generated

. Apply troubleshooting/problem solving techniques and resources, as required, to quickly respond to many varieties of operational issues

. Maintain and monitor raw material and finished product inventory levels to maximize cost savings

. Identify, communicate, and eliminate production bottlenecks with Engineering/Maintenance in order to continually maximize production capacities

. Train the salaried and hourly staff, as appropriate, on technical matters

. Revise/update training manual/program for the new ACM plant staff, as needed

REQUIREMENTS:

. BS Chemical Engineering

. Minimum 7 - 10 years relevant experience with future Operations Management potential and goals

. PSM experience preferred

. Prefer utilization or production of hazardous chemicals, such as Acrylonitrile, Acrylamide, Acrylic Acid and Sodium Hydroxide

. Prefer experience in commissioning and initial plant startup

. Yokogawa DCS and data acquisition systems experience a plus
