PLANT ENGINEER Overview:Manages projects from conception and design to fabrication and commissioning. Typical projects would include infrastructure upgrades and improvements to systems that support production enhancement of quality or quantity.Develops and executes plans to address all facets of plant operation including environmental issues, cost reduction, equipment installation, optimizing utilities and energy consumption and other items to keep the plant running smoothly and generate measureable benefits to the plant operation.Coordinate with other functions in plant compliance to all environmental laws and regulations. Interfaces with governmental and corporate auditors. Environmental programs/areas include hazardous materials/waste management, environmental noise and lighting management, air quality management, storm water and training of plant personnel in same.Troubleshooting equipment operating issues and recommending short-term and longer term resolutions.Defining and resolving process problems through individual and team-based continuous improvement activities and structured problem solving methods.Developing standard work and ensuring operators and supervisors are engaged and trained in running plant processes consistently.Making observations and taking measurements directly, as well as collecting and interpreting data from the other technical and operating staff involved in order to develop and implement process improvement.Working closely with the operators and staff who oversee quality control of raw materials, finished products, plant maintenance, product specifications and production schedules;Identifying root causes and recommending the appropriate corrective actions proactively.Performs other duties as assigned. Required Skills/Qualifications & Experience:Bachelor of Science in Mechanical or Chemical Engineering.Multi-disciplinary knowledge of engineering and an ability to innovate using practical, economical solutions and/or strategiesTechnical skill categories focusing on, e.g., piping, pressure vessels and machinery10+ years of experience in a manufacturing setting along with proven track record of measurable results.A high-speed continuous process manufacturing background preferredSound knowledge of TQM and TPM methodologySound knowledge of Statistical Process Control (SPC) and its practical implementationExperience in making data-driven decisions and utilization of statistics to solve problems and monitor processes.Project management experience from inception, planning to completionExcellent interpersonal and communication skills (written, verbal and presentation), with the ability to effectively work with others in a team environmentDemonstrated initiative and the ability to handle complex assignments with a proactive attitudeStrong attention to detail and accuracyExperience in coaching and building rapport with production operators to solve problems and to implement continuous improvement initiatives including leading Kaizen events.Lean six sigma skills and experience preferredExperience with Auto-cadMaintenance Supervision or Management experience
