Job Description



Directs the sales activities of the New Car Sales Department to ensure that the dealership meets its unit sales quota and its gross objectives. The New Car Sales Manager will accomplish these objectives through planning, organizing, coordinating, and measuring the activities of the new vehicle Sales Departments.


Monitors the flow of work in the New Car Sales Department and intervenes as needed to ensure goals are accomplished.

Maintains New Car Sales Department's operating environment to ensure optimal performance.

Monitors and evaluates daily employee performance, within the Sales Department; providing on-going feedback, coaching, training, and career guidance as necessary.

Builds a winning team by recruiting, hiring, training, coaching, evaluating, motivating, and rewarding Sales Department employees.

Enforces processes and standards to ensure customer satisfaction and efficient and effective sales.

Identifies customer concerns, needs, and expectations so that action plans can be determined and implemented

Runs the sales desk.

Ensures each customer experience meets or exceeds expectations for Sales.

Establishes sales and gross objectives for all Sales Consultants.

Conducts daily and weekly sales training meetings as directed by the General Manager

Works with Sales Consultants on programs that will increase the new/used car gross and increase F&I penetration.

Assists Sales Consultants with closing deals when necessary.

Uses CRM to monitor daily sales activities.

Creates a dealer image that capitalizes on Courtesy Ford's brand and appeals to consumer wants and needs.

Fully understands Ford programs and ensures all rules and regulations are followed.


Works with all sales personnel to ensure customer satisfaction.

Assists in the development of advertising campaigns and other promotions.

Monitors the efforts of Sales Consultants to enhance the image and customer satisfaction rating of the dealership.

Ensures a positive working environment for employees.

Develops a team atmosphere both within the Sales Department and across other dealership departments.

Follows all dealership policies.

Establishes and maintains positive management/employee working relationship

Builds productive working relationships both within and across departments through clear communications using different forms.

Speaks clearly, concisely, and effectively in groups and one-on-one.

Participates in management meetings to ensure open communications between departments.

Handles customer complaints that require management's attention.

Coordinates with Parts Department, Service Department, Body Shop, General Manager, Ford Representatives, sublet vendors, and others to ensure effectiveness of the sales process.

Maintains high ethical standards in daily sales activities.

Directs and schedules the activities of all Sales Department employees.

This includes setting direction in order to accomplish business goals while working with Sales Consultants to increase their abilities. Additional skills include creating a productive work environment and giving the Dealer and other Managers information on business and employee issues.

Working Effectively With Others focuses on promoting and valuing team work and communicating effectively through verbal, written, or listening skills. This includes encouraging others to work well within a group or when interacting with customers or co-workers. Other skills include encouraging the team to be committed to dealership goals and meeting individual forecasts.

Handling Pressure focuses on adapting to change, maintaining composure, multi-tasking, and resolving conflicts. This includes the ability and willingness to change work practices or priorities, and effectively handle multiple work demands. Other skill requirements include maintaining performance and composure under stressful conditions.

Managing Business Complexity focuses on the ability to analyze problems and data and to prioritize, plan, and make decisions to coordinate work activities and resources. This includes identifying causes of problems, generating alternatives, drawing reasonable conclusions, and deciding on an action plan after careful examination of relevant information and consideration of business objectives.

Applying the Basics focuses on referencing written information, mathematical reasoning, using computer and technical systems, learning new systems, processing new information, and following safety procedures. This includes the ability to determine and execute necessary math operations in order to complete documentation, financial reporting, and record keeping as well as the ability to use information from graphs, charts, or written text. This involves using systems to modify or execute programs, and guidelines to improve departmental functioning; and complying with safety procedures and guidelines.

Understanding and Using Business Knowledge focuses on understanding how a business works, maintaining industry awareness, creating efficient business systems, applying technical expertise, and developing creative business strategies. This includes understanding the key external factors impacting business, using learned skills to control costs, developing systems which help the dealership attain its business goals, and developing creative and effective solutions in response to business problems.


Order new vehicle inventory

Fully understand and train the sales staff on manufacturer incentives and guidelines

Manage the dealer trade transactions

Manage the cleanliness of new vehicles to be sold

Keep the dealership CSI at or above the zone


Responsible for the hiring and training and coaching of sales consultants.

Monitors salesperson productivity and performance.

Establishes sales and gross objectives for all Sales Consultants.

Ensures each customer experience meets or exceeds expectations for Sales

Ensures high quality and professional services are provided to every customer

Ensures Customer Records are completed promptly and accurately.

Ensures employees attend training programs to gain required skills and/or certifications.

Delegates work as requested to ensure customer satisfaction while developing employee skills.

Ensures that dealership policies and procedures are understood and followed.

Help Sales Consultants understand the importance of matching the right vehicles to the right target audience.
