The Network / Systems Engineer is responsible in providing a lead role in managing our client's server and network infrastructure both on premise and in the cloud in addition to desktop support services. You will be a primary lead contact for all issues related to IT and will have a team of engineers at your disposal to tackle the day-to-day tasks related to technology. This job includes some pre-sales support in determining equipment purchases, upgrade paths, and assisting with yearly budgets with regard to multiple hardware and software needs. You will also be responsible for assisting engineers with higher tier problems and projects.
.Perform the build, configuration, testing and maintenance of LAN/WAN: Servers, Storage, Virtualization, switches, routers, and cloud integrations.
.Support services for Microsoft related technologies: Windows Server, Exchange, SQL, Skype for Business
.Support services for virtualization technologies: VMware, HyperV
.Administer hosted and cloud solutions for customers using technologies that meet their requirements.
.Support High Availability, Failover, and disaster recovery solutions
.Remote access solutions support: VPN, Terminal Services, and Citrix
.Be a technical lead in technology solutions:
o Responsible for the onboarding of new clients and developing recommendations.
o Assist in escalation of issues and mentor other engineers.
o Take on projects from start to finish with minimal disruption.
.Excellent documentation skills using Word, Excel, and Visio.
.Review IT publications and best practices to remain up-to-date with current and future technologies and security concerns. SEC knowledge a plus.
.Work with clients on a regular basis to address ongoing initiatives and upgrades.
.Provide some after-hours support in the event of failures.
.Utilize ConnectWise as a primary ticketing, scheduling, expense, documentation, and project management tool.
.Assist in pre-sales calls to discuss proper recommendations based on needs.
.Improve customer service, perception, and satisfaction.
.Ability to work in a team and communicate effectively.
.Knowledge of a wide range of technologies with a focus on the following:
o Sonicwall, Cisco ASA, and Cisco Meraki Routers.
o Cisco Meraki, Ruckus, and Cisco Access Points
o HP Proliant and Dell PowerEdge Servers -- iLO and iDRAC.
o Local Exchange, Office 365, and Intermedia e-mail systems.
o Citrix ShareFile, Intermedia ShareSync, Dropbox, and Box.com
o Proofpoint Essentials
o Various Switches using VLAN, PVID, VoIP
o VMware and HyperV
o Windows Server 2008 through Server 2012 R2
o Active Directory, DNS, IIS, Certificate, and Radius authentication
.Considered a subject matter expert in more than one technology and/or vendor.
.Strong understanding of server, storage, virtualization and networking technologies, procedures, operations and best practices.
.Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or related field.
.Minimum of 10 years as an engineering consultant, outside systems engineer or similar.
.Strong technical writing skills to develop system documentation
.Ability to create technical solution drawings
.Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
.Ability to mentor other Engineers.
