Job Description:

You will assist in the design of HVAC and mechanical systems for commercial buildings which include schools, universities, office, banks, healthcare, manufacturing, warehouse, municipal imaging, etc. Other project experience is desirable. Responsibilities and job requirements include, but are not limited to:Provide HVAC system design and layout utilizing AutoCAD including coordination with all disciplinesLoad calculations, equipment selection, and other related design tasks under the guidance of the Project Manager and other senior technical staffHVAC system design and drawing preparation under the direction of the Project Manager, system narratives, and system layouts for a variety of project types and sizesAbility to design various HVAC system types under the guidance of the Project Manager, including packaged rooftop, split systems, VAV, displacement ventilation, 4-pipe, VRF, makeup air, etc.Work closely with the internal design team as well as external clients and consultants including owners, builders, developers, program managers, contractors, architects, vendors, etc.May assist Project Managers or senior designers in the on-going determination of project scheduling requirements, resource requirements, and project budgetsPerform construction administration and field investigation tasks for assigned projects including conducting field inspections and subsequent detailed inspection reportsIndividuals in this position must demonstrate the ability to progress from basic design work assignments to more complicated and involved projects working in conjunction with a technical teamMay assist the Project Manager or senior designer in processing RFI's, Change Orders, Bulletins, etc.Must take ownership of the completeness, accuracy and timeliness of the work assigned to you. Relevant Skills & Minimum Qualifications:Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited institution or equivalent experienceMinimum of 2 to 5 years of relevant experience in Mechanical Consulting Engineering or Mechanical ContractingExhibits thorough understanding of applicable codesDesign mechanical systemsLoad calculationsEquipment selectionAnalysis of equipment energy use for optimizing systems selectionDeveloping system narratives (writing, organizing the document, develop images)Coordinate mechanical system design with architects and other disciplinesExcellent communication skills: articulate, assertive and confidentProficient working in AutoCAD.Creative thinker with effective teamwork skills Desired Skills and Experiences:Current PE registration, preferred but not mandatory.Proficient in design and calculation software.Possesses basic understanding of proper system selection and determination of project design solutionsThe ability to work in a fast paced environment without compromising quality or accuracyExhibits self-disciplined approach to establishing priorities to meet multiple concurrent deadlines both for themselves, and others
