Job Description:

Title: Mechanical Design Engineer - SolidWorks Location: Melrose Park, IL area Rate: tbd Duration: permanent This role combines mechanical engineering skills and SolidWorks CAD experience to design and develop new and improved plastic injection molded fitments. The role also supports mold builds, trials, and lab qualification testing. Direct interaction with suppliers and customers will be necessary to understand and develop design and performance specifications, and execute the projects. Key Duties and Responsibilities: As an at-will employer, the company reserves the right to add to or modify this list to the extent it deems necessary. Develop and design plastic injection molded fitments in SolidWorks CAD. Create engineering drawings per ASME Y14 standards. Adhere to design protocol and documentation procedures. Lead and manage design projects, including coordinating team personnel through technical studies, product design, preparations of specifications and technical plans, and product testing. Develop and lead execution of test and validation plans for new equipment and component design. 5 - 15% domestic and international travel may be required. Utilize LEAN tools and methodologies in daily business practices. Key Competencies: Business Acumen Design for Lean Sigma Initiative Project Management (KT) Results Focus Communicating Effectively Displaying Technical Expertise Managing Time Resolving Conflict Solving Complex Problems Education: Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in Mechnical Engineering. Work Experience and/or Skills: Two (2) - Five (5) years experience plastic injection molding part design Ability to work with customers, and suppliers to define specifications Strong mechanical design aptitude Knowledgable of engineering materials and properties Knowledgeable of drafting and modeling techniques Understand fabrication techniques and tolerance Experience with SolidWorks CAD or ProE required Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite is required Knowledgable with using Project Management software Ideal candidate will have the ability to think beyond detailed design issues to manage complex projects.
