Job Description:

Mechancial Design EngineerWe are currently seeking a full-time Mechanical Design Engineer in our corporate office in Sioux Falls, SD. The position will report to the Director of Engineering and will be responsible for the following results:New designs meet the needs of manufacturing, sales, dealers, and end users for all Diamond Mowers products. Apply sound engineering principles to solve complicated problems via the use of hand calculations, FEA (Finite Element Analysis) software, Strain Gauging, etc., to ensure robust designs. Apply advanced skills in the use of design software including Autodesk Inventor as well as FEA software. Manage multiple aspects of new product design. This will include field and shop testing, while adequately communicating progress to management. Existing product is consistently revisited and improved based on cost, durability, function, quality, performance, reliability, service ability, and user features. Effectively implement engineering change requests (ECR's) based on analysis to improve product quality, process, etc. Work closely with purchasing and manufacturing to decrease cost, improve the product, and enhance the manufacturing process. Efficiency and safety are improved throughout Diamond Mowers production and manufacturing. Consistently evaluate processes and flow to challenge the team members to think outside of the box. Cultivate open and free lines of communication with multiple departments so problems can be reported and addressed quickly. Apply lean engineering and ergonomic principles to increase efficiency and promote safe working environment. Engineering concerns and questions are addressed quickly and accurately.Answer technical product related questions within 24 hours. Assist coworkers, dealers, and end users with technical challenges. Work in a team environment to collaboratively address the challenges while executing and communicating in a professional manor. Qualifications:* Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering with 4+ years of industry design experience.* A minimum of 2+ years of advanced FEA (Finite Element Analysis) experience.* Experience with 3D design software. Autodesk Inventor 3D design software preferred, but not mandatory.* Familiarity and/or experience with Sage 100 ERP software.* Must possess good analytical and communication skills.* Experience in similar role within the manufacturing industry.* A strong background in hydraulics and steel fabrication.* The candidate must be a self-starter, hold a proven track record with project management, good mechanical skills with "agricultural hands-on" aptitude, good trouble shooting and problem solving skills, as well as a proven ability to work with all levels of management and personnel.Diamond MowersDiamond Mowers is the leader in industrial brush and grass cutting equipment.
