Job Description

Prerequisites: (Experience, Knowledge and Education)

  • Mechanical Engineering Bachelor's Degree, or equivalent secondary education/experience
  • Minimum 5 years' experience in a manufacturing industry with Stamping (Progressive, Transfer & Line Die), Fabrication (Press Brake & Laser) and Welding (Spot/MIG) processes.
  • Understanding of Lean Six Sigma concepts and techniques or other equivalent Continuous Improvement experience.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to track multiple tasks in order to accomplish company directed goals and expectations along with keeping day to day production running.

Responsibilities (key tasks):

  • Continuously analyze manufacturing processes to improve product costs, set up times, tooling costs, production yields, maintenance costs, product quality and reliability, manufacturing cycle times and on time delivery.
  • Lead the Stamping area's efforts to support P&G's goals and customer requirements both for production efficiency and set up improvement.
  • Utilize and implement visual aids to assist operators in understanding and accomplishing tasks necessary to support manufacturing processes.
  • Assist in the utilization of the QRQA system to support defect reductions as well as continuous improvement activities working closely with the Director of Operations and CNC Supervisor.
  • Implement a process driven and documented manufacturing culture utilizing Lean Six Sigma and other continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Assist in the development of training activities and procedures required to support the production manufacturing processes.
  • Work with Engineering in the development and approval of new projects and processes from initial planning thru transfer to manufacturing for ongoing production requirements. Create and maintain a procedure for internal approval of new processes assuring that they are production ready to support customer requirements.
  • Correspond and interface with Customers to help meet there expectations and requirements.
  • Develop and track KPI's to support P&G's Strategic Business Plan Goals.
  • Assist and support quality to meet all TS-16949 requirements.
  • Foster a manufacturing environment that focuses on employee safety which supports OSHA requirements as well as P&G's safety program.

Direct Report:

  • Reports directly to the General Manager. Daily activities as well as prioritization will include direction and working closely with Director of Operations, Plant Manager and Production Supervisor's.

Core Competencies:

  • Proficient at identifying process improvement opportunities and being able to accomplish the necessary changes within the time constraints available.
  • Critical thinker, always thinking outside the box and finding ways to get things done rather than reason things will not work. Ability to challenge negative thoughts and attitudes into positive opportunities.
  • Able to prioritize projects in a multi-tasking environment and see them thru to completion under extreme pressure both time and cost.
  • Strong work ethic and lead by example.
  • Ability to integrate Lean Manufacturing Theory/Practices and Continuous Improvement activities into a mature manufacturing environment and workforce.
  • Leadership skills with the ability to build and motivate teams to accomplish required company goals.
  • Ability to train required personnel on the necessary processes that are being created and established.
  • Strong computer skills with working knowledge of Auto cad, Microsoft Office and Integrated Manufacturing Software (Vista).

Working Conditions:

  • Manufacturing environment requiring OHSA approved personal protective Equipment.
  • Flexibility in working hours both evenings and weekends as needed to support current project requirements.

Typical work week:

  • 75% Supporting "Plant Floor" QRQA Activities and overall manufacturing process development, training and meetings (even distribution of these 3)
  • 20% Administrative work (planning, research and preparation)
  • 5% Travel as needed to support current and future project needs (Domestic and International)
