Job Description:

Summary The Manufacturing Engineer will be asked to perform a variety of duties related to the manufacturing and development of products within the scientific glass industry. Experience with glass lathes and glass tools in a high precision specification environment is required by performing the following duties: Essential Duties and Responsibilities. Apply lean engineering techniques to optimize production and support new product development. The engineer will work with scientific glass processes, tools, and equipment to optimize yields and drive continuous improvement. Understand and interpret customer specifications and expectations. Estimate Production times, staffing requirements, and related costs to improve productivity, reduce lead time, create cost savings and facilitate a safe environment.. Develop and implement product qualification protocols. Improve manufacturing efficiency by analyzing and planning workflow, Space Requirements, and equipment layout.. Participation in FMEA development. Participation in Control Plan development. Participation in Standard work instruction and inspection instruction development. Ensure processes and equipment meet the needs for product manufacturing needs. Work with venders to determine product specifications and arrange for purchase of equipment.. Develops continuous improvement using lean methodologies to drive improvement.. Apply statistical methods to estimate production requirements/potential Qualifications: Education, Experience and Skills . B.S. Mechanical/Industrial Engineering, similar field or related experience. Minimum of 5+ years with Scientific Glass Manufacturing using glass lathes and glass tools. Ability to read blueprints and work with AutoCAD. Fast learner, driven problem solver with professional demeanor and excellent work ethic desired. Able to maintain company safety standards, and the ability to assist and cooperate with other departments.. Experience with glass lathes and glass tools in a high precision specification driven environment.
