Job Description: Manufacturing Paint EngineerLocation: Temple, TX (near San Antonio/Austin)Relocation: YesSummary: Responsible for the processing of Hydraulic Components from the time they move into Paint until they're completed into finished goods inventory. This position is also responsible for the packaging integrity of the product until it arrives at the customer's location. Required Education and Skills:Bachelor's Degree (BS) in Mechanical, Industrial, or Manufacturing Engineering from a four-year college or university is preferred3 - 5 years Liquid Paint Manufacturing Engineering experienceKnowledge of and experience in:Chemical pretreatment processing and associated testingMedia blastingPlural component mixing (Graco ProMix)HVLP, semi-automated electrostatic, and airless paint application processesExcel in both technical and practical problem solving techniquesExcellent communication and interpersonal skillsAbility to read and interpret machine manuals, instructions, procedures, and safety rules MS Office Suite - Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, VizioComputer Aided Design - AutoCAD or ProE preferredAbility to make sound business decisions based on limited informationUnderstanding of basic Lean tools (5S, VSM, process flow, spaghetti diagrams)Understanding of Problem Solving tools (8D, fishbone, 5-whys)Ability to read and interpret blueprints; GD&T a plusAbility to operate as an individual contributor as well as a teammatePrioritize day-to-day tasks and long-term department goals Essential Duties and Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:Operate in a safe and efficient manner while adhering to the company's ISO 9001 Quality Management System and ISO 14001 Environmental Management SystemAssist in driving safety improvements throughout the facility through use of accident investigations, root cause analysis, and engineering safety into the processes wherever possibleProvide day-to-day process support to manufacturing floor in area of responsibility. Assist as needed with prototype checks, production builds, equipment maintenance, and product or process troubleshootingEvaluate prototype cylinder designs for manufacturability, identifying any special tooling or fixturing required to produce the productEvaluate current processes against customer specifications and advise on any gaps to the specification, solutions to the gaps, and timeline for the solutionsEvaluate current processes for safety, quality, and productivity improvements through the use of continuous improvement activitiesMaintain technical proficiencies with existing technologies and research new technologiesReview current and future production needs with management as they relate to process improvement and new technology implementationWrite equipment specifications, justifications, and Capital Expenditure requests. Participate in equipment runoffs, coordinate installations, and release equipment to manufacturing teamCommunicate between internal and external customers in a professional and positive mannerAssist quality in completing root cause analysis and implementing corrective/preventive actionsCreate, implement, and monitor key performance indicators and metricsImplement data collection strategies to get product and process data. Analyze data to make informed decisions regarding product or process changes
