INDUSTRIAL ENGINEER SUMMARY: Develop and implement appropriate operational standards and procedures as they apply to industrial engineering, cost reduction, manufacturing and facilities improvement programs by performing the following duties. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned. Develop standards for material, labor and overhead. Reviews all cost estimates for accuracy prior to distribution and prepares timely and accurate cost estimates based on requests from Sales, when required. Reviews and approve product changes (structures, routings, etc.) and completes input forms for maintenance of product structures and routings, when required. Develop new and revised methods of manufacturing for all projects, including pre-production or pilot runs of new units through improved motion sequences, layout, tools, fixtures and equipment. Assist in designing and procuring of tools, jigs, fixtures and equipment and assist in the layout and installation to insure satisfactory operation. Investigate, analyze and review the design of new products or units and engineering changes with respect to manufacturing ability and where necessary make changes in layouts, tools and equipment. Coordinate the divisional cost reduction and continuous process improvement activities. Analyze work force utilization, facility layout, and operational data such as production costs, process flow charts, and production schedules, to determine efficient utilization of workers and equipment. Recommend methods for improving worker efficiency and reducing waste of materials and utilities such as restructuring job duties, reorganizing workflow, relocating workstations and equipment, and purchase of equipment. Work on special projects as assigned. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES May directly supervise Technicians as required. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems. S.) in Industrial Engineering, Industrial Management from four-year college or university; and three years related experience in packaging or related industry and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. APICs certification desirable. LANGUAGE SKILLS Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community. Ability to write speeches and articles for publication that conform to prescribed style and format. Ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors. MATHEMATICAL SKILLS Ability to apply advanced mathematical concepts such as exponents, logarithms, quadratic equations, and permutations. Ability to apply mathematical operations to such tasks as frequency distribution, determination of test reliability and validity, analysis of variance, correlation techniques, sampling theory, and factor analysis. REASONING ABILITY Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables. COMPUTER SKILLS: Must be knowledgeable in MS Word, Excel and related software.
