Description Benefits Supplemental Questions

Performs skilled work in the maintenance and repair of heating, ventilation, air-conditioning, refrigeration and related equipment.

CURRENT VACANCY: One (1) full-time position (12 mos/yr, 8 hrs/day), with full benefits, at the Facility and Support Operations. New employees in this classification are hired at the fourth step of the salary schedule.

Inspects, maintains, services, and repairs heating, ventilating, air-conditioning, refrigeration equipment; and other related appliances.

Repairs, adjusts, and replaces compressors, coils, condensers, and motors.

Analyzes electrical and pneumatic control systems and determines appropriate installation and maintenance requirements of heating, ventilating, air-conditioning, and refrigeration equipment.

Performs computer operations related to the input, monitoring, and field maintenance work in the repair of energy management system components.

Operates and supervises the operation of steam absorption heating and air-conditioning equipment at large facilities.

May provide technical or functional supervision to general maintenance personnel.

Performs related work as required.

Employment Standards:MINIMUM REQUIREMENT:

Five years of experience in the installation, repair and maintenance of heating, ventilating, air-conditioning, and refrigeration systems of up to one-hundred-ton capacity with at least one year at the journey level.

LICENSE OR CERTIFICATE

Possession of a valid State of California Class C driver's license and the ability to be insured and maintain standard vehicle liability and property damage insurance.

Possession of a valid EPA Rule 608 Technician's Universal Certification.

Successful completion of the Energy Management Familiarity and Response Training programs utilized by the District within five months of date of hire.

Note Regarding Work Schedule:

Incumbent may be required to work a shifting workweek. Workweek will include five (5) consecutive days that may start and end on any day of the week.

A review of applicants' experience and qualifications will be conducted. Based on that evaluation, a limited number of applicants whose qualifications best meet the current needs of the District will be invited to participate in the next step of the examination process. The examination will utilize Assessment Center techniques, which may include a technical project or a performance test, and will include a technical qualifications appraisal interview. Qualified candidates will be provided with more details prior to the start of the examination process.

Salary and Probationary Period: New employees in this classification are hired at the fourth step of the salary schedule. The probationary period is 130 days of paid service. Permanent employees earn higher rates after one year of successful job performance and thereafter, receive merit increases each year up to the maximum amount (step 8 in 4 years).
