General Manager, Automotive OEM Supplier Job Description

I. Company Overview:

Our client is a well-established global automotive OEM supplier, with annual sales revenue of $45M, and currently on track to achieve $60M in total annual revenue.

II. Position Summary:

Our client is seeking a talented executive to assume the role of General Manager / COO. The General Manager will re-establish the corporate culture, set the direction and tone for the company, as well as manage all aspects of the manufacturing operations.

The ideal candidate will have experience working with European customers, have strong leadership abilities, have experience with turn-arounds, and expertise in crisis management.

The General Manager must have strong leadership abilities, as they will face some significant challenges right from the start.
1. Product Launches:
Our client has several new product launches planned for the next year, so they are seeking a talented executive with a solid background in product launch management.
2. Change Agent:
Must have the ability to re-establish the morale, and community of culture, as the corporate culture at our client's organization is a bit fractured, which has resulted in a high level of turnover, and degradation of personnel cohesion.

Qualification Checklist: (Candidate Must Haves):
. Recent leadership and business development experience at an automotive OEM supplier, or a company that sells products to an automotive OE is required.
. Must have 3-5 years of experience as a General Manager / COO, President, or VP of Operations within the Automotive OEM supplier sector.
. Financial acumen, and P&L budget management experience is a must.
. Turn-around experience and crisis management experience is required.
. Candidates must have a strong network of OEM contacts, and be able to grow sales revenue by leveraging these relationships.
. Experience working with European customers, (VW, BMW, Tesla, etc.) is preferred, but not required.

III. Position Responsibilities:

The General Manager's primary responsibility is to manage all aspects of the company's operations, and drive business development and sales activities to continue the growth of the company.
. Develop a Strategic Vision & Business Plan for the company, focused on sales revenue growth.
. Manage all aspects of the company's daily operations.
. Establish and optimize the Sales & business development efforts.
. Report to senior management on a regular basis to provide a report on the state of the company and its interests.

IV. Position Requirements:

. Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience is required.
. Excellent leadership, negotiation, management, problem solving, and interpersonal skills are a must.
. Ability to lead from a strategic and tactical perspective in all aspects of day to day operations is also a must.
. A background in the automotive industry is required.
. Recent leadership and business development experience at an automotive OEM supplier, or a company that sells products to an automotive OE is required.
. Must have 3-5 years of experience as a General Manager / COO, President, or VP of Operations within the Automotive OEM supplier sector.
. Financial acumen, and P&L budget management experience is a must.
. Turn-around experience and crisis management experience is required.
. Candidates must have a strong network of OEM contacts, and be able to grow sales revenue by leveraging these relationships.
. Must have a valid passport, and be able to travel at least once per quarter.

V. Desired / Preferences:

The ideal candidate will have experience working in the OEM Supplier sector, preferably with European customers, have an finance orientation, have experience in crisis management and strong leadership abilities.
. Experience working with European customers, (VW, BMW, Tesla, etc.) is preferred, but not required.
. Experience in the area of automotive interior supply is desired.
. Strong undergraduate and/or graduate academic credentials is a plus.
