Job Description

Traveling Field Service Engineer (FSE)

Position Description: The FSE is Prolitec's chief engineering and technical support resource in the Southwest I Region ("Territory") and as such is responsible for the performance of all Prolitec systems and services in the Territory.

The FSE is accountable for Prolitec service quality and reliability, the principal measure of which is up-time providing an ambient scent effect uniformly throughout the designated services areas of the Client Location. The FSE will perform onsite systems service duties as set forth below and, at the discretion of the Director of Field Services.

  • Territory: 300 mile radius of San Francisco
  • Reports to: Director of Field Services
  • Peers: Field Service Engineers in other regions
  • Collaborates with: Field Service Engineers, Customer Care, Operations, Sales Team
  • Support Equipment: Company vehicle, smartphone, iPad, service software (Salesforce and ServiceMax), service tools including ladder, site survey instruments, uniforms, ID card, and business cards. Company credit card for directly related business expenses.
  • Travel Requirements: 5 days a week by car, of which an average of 3 days will result in a hotel stay away from home. Occasional air travel outside of Territory for emergency, and to Milwaukee for training sessions.
  • Veterans' Preference: This position is part of Prolitec's "Careers for Veterans" Program. Military service, and military training and experience in some engineering or technical area, will be an important consideration in the hiring decision.
  • Educational Requirements: Secondary school education with satisfactory grades, and post-secondary education or on the job training in a technical area which required craftsmanship, the use of tools, and the ability to assess situations is important. HVAC training is very helpful.
  • Training Resources: Online training course, in-person training in Milwaukee, and onsite ride-along training with Senior Field Service Engineers.

Compensation:

  • Salary: $50,000 - $65,000 DOE
  • Prolitec benefits program, including health insurance 66% paid.

Requirements: (Prolitec will train some of the skills)

  • Communications skills (written and verbal)
  • 5 years work experience
  • Reasonably clean driving record
  • Fast learner, with good listening skills
  • Common sense about people, situations, and mechanical things
  • General craftsmanship and detail-oriented
  • Skills with basic tools
  • Familiarity with HVAC systems
  • Ability to lift 40 pounds and carry 20 up a ladder or steep staircase
  • No fear of heights
  • PC, iPad and smartphone experience, and familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite. Experience using Salesforce and/or ServiceMax is very helpful.

Detail of Duties:

  • Onsite installation, maintenance, repair of ambient scenting systems
  • Onsite assessment of scent intensity levels and adjustment as needed
  • Accept electronically delivered work orders and electronically report completion
  • Within the prescribed Territory, drive a company vehicle to client locations for the performance of duties
  • Develop and maintain a positive relationship of trust with onsite Client technical, maintenance and as necessary management personnel
  • Equipped with an understanding of the areas to be treated from the Customer Care team, complete onsite surveys of client facilities including HVAC systems, power sources, mechanical plans to determine the ideal placement of company equipment to achieve the desired ambient scent effect or remediation of odors
  • Secure approval for the design from Director of Field Services
  • Installation to a high level of craftsmanship, according to the customer-approved design
  • Determine the needed replenishment cycle for disposable cartridges
  • Examine all machines and cartridges for performance issues and repair
  • Report any flaws in machines or cartridges to Operations center
  • Onsite completion of scent maps to assess scent strength in multiple areas of the Client Location
  • Change disposable cartridges according to the replenishment cycle
  • Maintain company storage unit and the inventory of equipment and fragrances in quantities needed for regular maintenance and emergency repairs
  • Maintain company vehicle and all tools and equipment
