For more information, please visit our website at . We are expanding our Environmental Group and positioning ourselves for considerable growth in the next 5 - 10 years. Currently, we are seeking a full-time environmental engineer to perform sales and business development and assume Profit and Loss responsibility for Guardian's Environmental Group. The successful candidate will be responsible for working collaboratively with Senior Management to develop and implement a growth strategy for the Environmental Group while insuring that Guardian's reputation for providing superior client service is maintained. The person taking this role will have a track record of successfully developing and implementing growth strategies, having spent time in management and business development roles. This person will have interacted with client businesses in a fashion that has achieved trusted advisor status. Additionally, this person will have the natural ability to deal with ambiguity with the proven skill set of being able to instantly shift gears when necessary to offer creative approaches to emerging opportunities. The ideal candidate would be considered an expert in the environmental services Guardian provides and have experience testifying as an expert witness. RESPONSIBILITIESBusiness Development and Daily Management of Environmental Group services - travel will be required.Managing and performing environmental insurance claim investigations, assessments, evaluations, including soil investigations, soil management plans, groundwater assessments, hydrological investigations, CUPA-directed site closure programs (UST, HMMP, etc.), SWPPP-related plans and project oversight, and general hazardous materials evaluations and response actions and reporting and providing Expert Testimony at Arbitrations, Mediations, and/or Trial.Preparing and reviewing remediation plans and specifications.Developing technical project proposals, presentations and detailed budgets.Supervising and providing technical guidance to Project Team.Consistently ensure that all practices conform to Guardian's standards; follow established policies, procedures, and processes in preparing reports.Provide effective management of all assigned tasks; meeting budget and delivery time frames, and ensuring client satisfaction. Participate in business development ventures and presentation, including regular contact with existing and prospective clients. Develop technical specialization and expertise that benefits Guardian and broadens client service offerings. Exercise sound judgment at all times and during potentially unusual or complicated situations. Function as an effective member of the team, assisting co-workers as needed and learning from colleagues and supervisors to support goals and objectives of Guardian. Qualifications Bachelors of Science degree in Civil or Geotechnical Engineering or equal from an accredited university is required. Active Professional Engineering (PE) license or equal in California is required. NCEES Registration or willing to apply to NCEES within six (6) months of hire date.QSD (Qualified SWPPP Developer) Certification a plus.Experienced working in the Real Estate Development environment;Prior P&L responsibility (experience in managing a Business Unit preferred);Proven track record of developing business and managing clients; Significant experience (typically 10 plus years) as an engineer is required. Skills include: organizing, analyzing, interpreting, synthesizing, prioritizing, and reporting relevant information, discerning the essential form the non-essential, and grasping complexities of unusual or complicated cases; research and investigative abilities. Prior experience as an Expert Witness is a plus. Strong project management, data interpretation, and technical writing skills. Must be able to quickly adapt to change to meet business needs. Excellent interpersonal communication skills with the ability to effectively, persuasively, and tactfully interact with clients and Guardian employees at all levels.Strong ability to mentor and develop staff. Able to travel as needed. Valid Driver's License with acceptable driving record in accordance with Guardian standards is required. Must be physically fit to perform onsite inspections.
