Develop, coordinate, and execute engineering methods affecting a wide range of engineering activities. Regular contact with professional engineering consultants, clients, governmental agencies, involved communities and contractors in connection with complex and difficult engineering matters. Overall supervision and review of detailed and complex engineering calculations, plans, specifications, construction cost estimates, and technical papers. Responsible for planning, designing and providing guidance in the development of water supply, transmission, and distribution and collection projects and the operation and maintenance of existing water systems. Develops and reviews conceptual drawings related to infrastructure design. Develops and reviews construction documents and specifications. Reviews and prepares calculations, permit applications, monitoring plans and progress reports. Responsible for studies, preparing designs, and contract documents for water supply infrastructure projects. Qualifications Bachelor of science degree in the environmental engineering, or civil engineering. A EIT certificate is desired. PE License preferred. 0-5 years of experience in the civil/environmental engineering field with concentration in site civil/storm water/water/wastewater design is highly desired. Familiar with City of Philadelphia utility plans and is able to assemble into base maps to PWD standards and perform QC checks. Proficient in PWD water, sewer, and green design and drafting standards. Capable of working toward overseeing staff to insure workflow, quality control, and deadline management. Capable of working toward meeting with Clients to discuss design work, project changes, adherence to standards, and new work assignments. Capable of completing site visits to confirm base mapping accuracy. Capable of using redline drawings to produce AutoCAD design drawings to standard. Capable of producing sound water and sewer design drawings, quantity take offs and construction cost estimates. Experience with drafting project specifications (PWD related).
