LMI Corporation provides a wide variety of dimensional gauging solutions to industries including automotive, aerospace and glass manufacturers. For the past 27 years we have been a manufacturer of specialty gages, linear probes, RF data transmission solutions, support software utilities, data collection systems, and fully automated gauging systems. We are based in Fenton, MI - located just south of Flint along US-23.
We are currently seeking an Electrical/Electronic Engineer for our research and development department. Primary responsibilities include: Building and testing prototypesModification and retrofitting of existing productsDesign of new products from concept to schematic, firmware and PCB layout
This is a hands-on position requiring the ability to carry a project from concept to production. The individual should have: 2 years' experience in the design of high precision, low noise analog circuitry as well as digital electronics design and the programming of microcontrollersIn addition to digital/analog circuits, other required skills include power distribution, communications, sensors, cables, and the integration of commercial electrical equipment.Experience with RF transceivers is a plusPrototyping skills such as soldering, bread-boarding, perf-boarding and using breakout boards for surface mount prototypingCircuit design skills are essential and the knowledge of Allegro/OrCAD and AutoCAD software is a plus.A strong troubleshooting ability is expected and must span analog/digital electronics as well as RF. The person we are seeking will help grow a small electrical development department and must have strong team communication skills to interact with team members and other departments. Requirements: 2 years electrical design product development experience BSEE from accredited institutionExperience should include selecting and integrating distributed electro-mechanical controls, sensors, analog and digital circuits, and intelligent electronic devices; experience with MEMS devices is a plusMust have experience designing for a variety of different types of communications including serial RS232 and RS485Experience with USB and Ethernet would be a plusFamiliarity with power distribution both AC and DC, AC-disconnect and safety devices, power connectors and power distribution would be a plusRF experience desired: Zigbee, Bluetooth, BLE, WifiPCB schematic and layout skills requiredC and C++ skills are needed for embedded code developmentKnowledge of multiple microcontroller architectures is desired; experience with Atmel AVR and TI MSP430 is a plusKnowledge of MS office organizational software products is required Relocation is not covered.
