Job Description

This position is open only to US citizens or those eligible to work in the US without sponsorship.

BES Design/Build seeks an individual to join our staff to participate in the design and construction administration of the electrical components of our project designs. This position will be located in our office in Fairhope, AL. The individual selected will design electrical power, communications, electronic security and safety systems for commercial, industrial, institutional, and healthcare facilities. Work will be focused on government, military and medical systems for both renovations and new construction at various scales depending on the project.

The individual will have the following in their background:

  • Design experience in facility construction/renovation design, power and lighting.
  • Electrical coordination and power studies a plus.
  • Involvement in developing and managing energy conservation projects.
  • Frequent on-site visits to local client sites to determine field conditions and constructability issues.
  • The ability to work with minimal supervision to complete construction drawings with the help of other team members.

Job Requirements

  • BS - Electrical Engineering
  • Candidate required to be a licensed Professional Engineer and NCEES or the ability to become licensed within a reasonable timeframe.
  • Candidate must have +/- 5 years of directly applicable experience.
  • Design experience or familiarity with the specification of electrical systems. SpecsIntact and MasterSpec a plus.
  • Working knowledge of AutoCAD is needed. Revit is a plus.
  • Ability to will gain proficiency in SKM and Visual lighting software within 6 months of hire.
  • Proficiency with commonly used business software such as Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint. BlueBeam software used for PDF editing.

Your position as Electrical Engineer will consist of the following responsibilities but are not limited to:

  • Manage County, State and Federal IDIQ design projects.
  • Design or improve electrical systems for commercial or industrial purposes.
  • Perform calculations to compute and establish installation standards or specifications.
  • Prepare specifications for purchases of materials or equipment.
  • Size and select equipment including wiring, conduits, transformers, panels, etc.
  • Perform field surveys.
  • Develop and maintain client relationships.
  • Involvement in project pursuits.

If candidates have qualifying experience as a Senior Electrical Engineer, the following duties would be applicable:

  • Applying knowledge to prepare electrical construction drawings and specifications.
  • Providing technical direction to team of engineers and design technicians.
  • Formulating and developing advanced electrical engineering concepts.
  • Developing cost estimates and value engineering options for electrical systems.
