Job Description

ESSMetron, LLC, which is a leading manufacturer of electrical distribution and controls, has an immediate opening for an Electrical Design Engineer.

The Design Engineer (DE) reports directly to the electrical engineering manager and is primarily responsible for supporting all electrical design aspects through the entire design and manufacturing process. The DE is ESSMetron's focal point in understanding the operational issues surrounding individual manufacturing projects, codes and standards and all electrical related tasks in support of manufacturing and testing the finished product. This function requires a degree of intra-departmental coordination. Another role that the DE plays is completing tasks that are critical to the success of the VP of Engineering leadership objectives.

The level of success the DE is measured by is:

1) The timeliness, accuracy and completeness of the designs that the DE generates; and, 2) timeliness and accuracy of the tasks in support of the VP of engineering leadership objectives.

DAY TO DAY TASKS AND OBJECTIVES

Learn the design aspects of ESSMetron's Custom Electrical Products or CEP products

  • Experience in low voltage or medium voltage power distribution equipment is preferred
  • Sophisticated controls experience would be a benefit to any candidate for this position as ESS Metron makes PLC controlled power distribution and motor control equipment

Candidate must be able to produce one line and three line schematic diagrams,

Must be able to understand control schematics, and any associated hardware

Must be able to work on multiple projects at once.

Must be able to create electrical drawings and bills of material for both submittals and final released manufacturing packages. This candidate will be responsible for managing all electrical engineering functions from takeoff through construction and shipment of each project.

  • Become intimately familiar with ESSMetron's design standards, codes and manufacturing standards
  • Selection of electrical materials to meet job requirements
  • Create bills of materials in our MRP system, job-scope, specific to each job requirement
  • Create Auto-cad one line and three line schematics for each job requirement
  • Provide additional verbal and written instructions to support manufacturing and test processes
  • Review proposals and assist as needed in the quotation support process
  • Perform cost analysis and value engineer jobs / projects to support a lower than quoted cost
  • Perform routine calculations to insure designs meet standards and codes per NEC, UL, ANSI, IEEE, NFPA and any other customer requirements per supplied specifications

EXPERIENCE

  • Candidate should have an electrical engineering degree or substantial applicable experience
  • 5 years of experience preferably in a manufacturing environment
  • Occasional travel requirements are part of the responsibilities of this position
