The Naval Surface Warfare Center Dahlgren Division (NSWCDD) mission is to provide research, development, test and evaluation, analysis, systems
engineering, integration and certification of complex naval warfare systems. As a premier naval scientific and engineering institution, Dahlgren technology is critical to new design concepts for current ships and for systems integration and interoperability for the U.S. Navy.

Senior Scientist and Technical Managers (SSTM) provide a continuity of technical leadership and oversight that is needed to ensure long term
stewardship of an organization's technical capabilities. The Distinguished Scientist/Engineer for Warfare Systems Software Science & Technology and
Development position requires national-level expertise in scientific and technical knowledge of software requirements, architecture, design, code,
integration, and software testing for warfare systems.

NSWCDD is seeking a candidate with the following skills and experience:
1. Perform research and development using the latest techniques and practices to lead the future direction of research, development, test and evaluation (RDT&E) to solve complex software science and technology (S&T) challenges with innovative approaches.
2. Conduct software research and development for complex warfare systems.
3. Perform unprecedented research and expands the field of science relating to the application of software development techniques to solve complex Navy challenges.
4. Lead research in the area of advanced computing architectures, cyber vulnerability, reusable software frameworks, design patterns, development of automated test tools, large-scale data fusion and pattern recognition algorithms, and prototyping of autonomous decision algorithms and technologies.
5. Guide and influence the direction of software development research efforts at the national, Department of Defense (DoD), and Department of the Navy (DON) levels.
An advanced degree of a Master's or higher in a relevant field is highly desirable.

A security clearance is a requirement of this position.

Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test is required.

Selectee may be required to complete a one-year supervisory or managerial probationary period.

Selectee will be required to complete and submit an Executive Personnel Financial Disclosure Report, OGE-278, prior to entering the position and annually thereafter.
