Jackson River is looking for a Dev Ops Engineer to help build and maintain the systems that run our non-profit fundraising platform, Springboard. You will be a critical part of a small but effective team responsible for ensuring our environments are highly available, secure, and scalable. You will help shape the future of our platform, and you should be able to advise on best practices in cloud-oriented architecture design.
Day-to-day, you will be working collaboratively with developers on our platform engineering team to deploy and operate our systems. You will help build and maintain tools to automate and streamline our operations and processes, to streamline our deployment and testing pipelines, and to help monitor and analyze day-to-day operations. You will troubleshoot and resolve incidents as they occur, as well as implement preventative solutions.
. Expert level experience with LAMP stack technologies
. Experience with automation/configuration management using tools like Chef, Puppet, etc. (Chef experience preferred)
. Working experience with cloud architectures, particularly Amazon Web Services
. Experience managing a PCI compliant environment, or comparable security experience
. Knowledge of best practices and IT operations in an always-up, always-available service
. Fearless and composed when troubleshooting incidents under pressure
. Willingness to participate in our pager rotation
. Scripting experience (e.g. Bash, Python, Ruby)
. Strong communication skills

. A passion for providing excellent service to both internal and external clients
. Experience working on infrastructure that supports software-as-a-service (SaaS), and an understanding of the challenges of supporting a multi-tenant solution
. Experience hosting Drupal or Laravel-based PHP applications (particularly enterprise-level)
. Experience with modern deployment tools (e.g. Laravel Envoy, Fabric, Capistrano)
. Understanding of current web tools and trends within nonprofit organizations: CMS, eCRM, Blogs, fundraising, ESPs, and advocacy software
. Proficiency with Salesforce and Drupal; programming skills are not required but comfort and confidence in configuring and navigating these systems is necessary
. Ability to work independently (and the discipline to work remotely)
. Experience with non-LAMP stacks (e.g. NoSQL, Nginx)
. Administrative experience with MySQL, particularly multi-master replication, cross-datacenter replication, and performance tuning
. On-call experience
