Software Guidance & Assistance, Inc., (SGA), is searching for a DevOps Engineer for a FULL TIME opportunity with one of our premier clients in New York, NY or Bethlehem, PA.

The DevOps engineer is responsible for managing the day-to-day activities related to cloud initiatives and the DevOps suite of tools used to deploy application to the cloud.

Responsibilities:
  • Provide automation services for the application teams using the best in class toolset
  • Aid in various cloud migration initiatives
  • Establish and maintain key service level agreements
  • Provide innovation around automation and release processes
  • Onboarding of new applications into standardized migration pipeline
  • Assist in various DevOps initiatives
  • Work closely and collaborate with technical peers, business operations and enterprise testing teams
  • Assist with technical projects working closely with enterprise and shared services project teams
  • Provide guidance and direction to AppDev teams in regards to build/deployment scripts in order to keep in line with best practices
  • Participate in team wide Change Management process as both implementer and verifier ensuring changes are completed efficiently and correctly.

Required Skills:
  • Minimum 4 - 5 years experience with DevOps practices and automation tooling
  • Candidate should have deep knowledge of at least 2 of the following skill sets:
  • Knowledge of AWS cloud services and how to provision infrastructure on it
  • Experience with Terraform or CloudFormation scripting
  • Experience with configuration management system such at Puppet or Chef. Along with creating configuration manifest with it
  • Experience with DevOps orchestration tools such as Jenkins. Also configuring deployment pipelines in it.
(all above are equally imporant but they are ranked in priority order)
  • Understanding of application code and build scripts
  • Must be able to multi-task and work well with changing priorities in a fast paced, 24x7 environment
  • Experience with public cloud migrations/transformations
  • Must be highly collaborative and be able to work in a team environment, with technical and business people.
  • Windows & Linux scripting experience
  • Excellent communication, problem solving and customer service skills with the ability to translate technical detail into non-technical information.
  • A strong ability to learn new technologies
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or workforce equivalent
Preferred Skills:
  • Experience with AWS transformations and processes a big plus
  • APM monitoring tool experience a strong plus
  • Technical certifications preferred
