Location: New Haven, CT Summary: The Design Engineer must also be able to communicate and coordinate activities with other engineering disciplines and production as part of a team effort to achieve project completion in a timely manner. The candidate will handle all aspects of design engineering work which includes but isn't limited to review of customer drawing and specification package, preliminary design review, critical design review, and product readiness review. This requires a self-motivated individual to design with regards to cost, manufacturability, and quality constraints in mind. Responsibilities: Handle all aspects of design engineering work which include but isn't limited to review of customer drawing and specification package, preliminary design review, critical design review, and product readiness review. Responsibilities include control, integration and completion of engineering projects. Directly communicate with customers in the form of quotations, meetings and presentations to understand and define their needs. Understand and respond to customer requests, both verbal and written. Manage several projects at one time. Guide drafting, internal/external test labs, manufacturing, quality, and planning as required. Maintain Project schedule. Oversee product qualification/certification. Manage all changes and problems related to product assigned. Act as technical expert for the company for both internal and external customers. Coordinate PRR activities. Knowledge of the design and use of RTD, Thermocouples, Speed Sensors, and Pressure Sensors Must be able to work with customers to define and document requirements, address technical concerns and provide project status. Ability to make technical presentations internally and to customers. Background in Aviation Industry a plus. Understanding and experience in Principles of Lean and Mistake Proofing a plus. MasterCam experience a plus Requirements: BS Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or equivalent 3-5 years of design experience (aerospace is preferred but not required) o Aircraft (fixed wing and rotary) cable, wiring harness and/or sensors knowledge a plus Project Management experience is required Must be able to design system components and or parts from inception Would be a big plus if you have experience with preliminary design review and critical design review, production design review and PRR. Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal. Computer literate and fluent in solid modeling and related analysis software, Solid Works and/or CATIA - preferably Solid Works. Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Project, Power Point) Basic knowledge of analog and digital circuits. Exposure to electromagnetic/magnetic circuits a plus. Other Important Information: Due to the nature of this company's work, you will need to be authorized to work in the US indefinitely without assistance for any US employer and will be asked to prove status. You will be asked to travel both domestically and internationally up to 20% of the time. Some light physical effort required. Sitting, standing, reaching, bending, and moving, must be able to push, pull, and lift at least 15 lbs.
