Job Description:

Design Engineer Primary responsibility is to create detail design of new products as while as improve the design of current products as needed. This includes: 1) Define component models 2) Create detailed 3-D model for use in tooling of products 3) Create detailed 2-D drawings 4) Research and identify mechanisms and designs that can be applied to products in development. 5) Re-design components as needed, for manufacturability. 6) Assign component I.D. and Descriptions in system. 7) Create BOM's for products per design 8) Creation and testing of prototypes and competitive products. 9) Testing of products and components to meet specifications. 10) Assist Operations and QA in development of proper guidelines to assure needed quality and performance of components/products. 11) Work closely with Product Manager in Marketing and Engineer and Plant Manager in China to create final product according to requirements. Secondary responsibility for Operations include: (These items may require eventual travel to factories outside of U.S.)Assist with new product launches including:Production Tooling development tracking & reviewPre-production component review1st Production Run review of final productAssist production and marketing on drawing and information transfer and suppliers coordinationOther duties as required by the then current situations. Education and ExperienceCollege degree in Engineering, preferredKnowledge of QA principles and practicesKnowledge/experience (two to three years) in any of the following: plastic injection molding, metal stamping, die casting, extrusion, metal fabrication, and powder metal manufacturingProficiency in relevant mechanical softwares: SolidWorks, MS Office, etc. Key CompetenciesAttention to detail and accuracyCapable of creating component designs from initial conceptGood research skillsMust have exceptional skills in record keeping and documentationCommunication skills, oral & writtenProblem analysis and problem-solving skillsTeam work Position Requirements: 1. Position is occasionally required to travel and/or work outside of normal business hours, including weekends, evenings and overtime. 2. Demonstrate enthusiasm about role and remain update with competitive product offerings. 3. Ability to collaborate with other departments when necessary. 4. Attention to detail and the ability to multi-task. 5. Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines without compromising consistency in the process. 6. Ability to handle sensitive information. 7. Able to lift and/or move 50 pounds and up to 100 pounds. 8. Strong proficiency in SolidWorks, mechanical drafting software. 9. Proficient with hand power tools and others as needed.
