The Cybersecurity organization's objective is to ensure that JPMC is able to effectively detect, prevent, and respond to cyber threats against our technology infrastructure. The scope of Cybersecurity comprises detection and monitoring of threats and vulnerabilities, managing security incidents, and evolving our preventive infrastructure to keep ahead of the threat. We accomplish this through strong information security leadership and active collaboration with line of business information risk managers to provide high quality security solutions and services that are focused on improving the Firm's risk posture.


The Data Protection Engineer will be responsible for data security pertaining to, but not limited to, identifying potential security vulnerabilities, determining what controls are necessary in order to protect the data, determining the effectiveness of the controls already or designed to be put in place. The responsibilities may also include ownership of data security devices, applications, systems, processes, or policies in whole or in partnership with other internal JPMC technology groups.


* Assist in the design, development, deployment and maintenance of the firm's data protection strategy

* Implement cutting edge Data Protection build outs leveraging various tools/technologies throughout the data lifecycle.

* Participate in the assessment of data protection approaches, requirements, and activities firmwide.

* Evaluate existing solutions and providing feedback to strengthen the Firm's risk posture.

* Utilize emerging trends, technical reviews, security threats, business requirements, and architectural views in order to provide input on solutions

* Provide support in guiding business and technology partners on data protection matters and methodologies

* Collaborate on data protection best practices, risks, interpretation of firm-wide standards, etc.

Qualifications & Requirements:

* Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Engineering or related field preferred

* 5 years of overall IT experience with 3 years of proven background in security engineering, data protection, data lifecycle management, data loss prevention or the supporting of these security solutions.

* Experience with Data Protection solutions across application, backup, database, endpoint device, email, file, network, removable media and storage domains.

* Solid understanding of security, encryption, authentication and key management with strengths in 2 or more of the following areas of Data Protection:

* DLP - Data Loss Prevention

* Digital Rights Management

* Data Classification

* Public Key Infrastructure (PKI)

* Authentication

* Access Control / Privileged Access

* Tokenization

* Encryption

* Cryptography

* Extensive experience in a red hat Environment

* Extensive experience with networking protocols such as HTTP/S, SSL/TLS, TCP/IP, SMTP TCP/IP, DNS and experience with networking concepts like routing and load balancing

* Experience with scripting languages such as; Shell, Python, or PowerShell

* Experience with large scale networks including MSExchange and Active Directory

* Ability to support and liaise with business process owners to incorporate data protection products and provisions into their processes.

* Experience with vendor based implementations such as Cloud-based, Cisco, EMC, IBM, Microsoft, Oracle, RSA, Voltage, Vormetric, Secure Islands, Titus, etc.

* Knowledge in Cloud Data Loss Prevention (CDLP) and Cloud Access Security Brokers (CASB) a plus.

* Ability to support and liaise with business process owners to incorporate data protection products and provisions into their processes.

* Must be able to work collaboratively with other areas to advocate information security solutions.

* Must possess a high degree of initiative, motivation, and problem-solving skills.

* Ability to communicate security, data protection, data loss prevention related concepts to a broad range of technical and non-technical staff, including senior business leaders

Preferred Experience:

* Data Loss Prevention concepts and products (such as Symantec DLP, Digital Guardian, RSA or Mcafee DLP, etc?)

* Data encryption concepts/products (such as Vormetric, Protegrity, Voltage, etc?)

* Data classification concepts and products (such as Titus, Varonis, etc?)

* Tokenization, data masking, data dispersion techniques

* HDFS and Big data technologies

High Security Access (HSA) :

This position is anticipated to require the use of one or more High Security Access (HSA) systems. Users of these systems are subject to enhanced screening which includes both criminal and credit background checks, and/or other enhanced screening at the time of accepting the position and on an annual basis thereafter. The enhanced screening will need to be successfully completed prior to commencing employment or assignment.
