BAE Systems is seeking an exceptional engineer to support the Air Force's next generation InterContinental Ballistic Missile (ICBM) weapon system acquisition. Our customer is the Ground Based Strategic Deterrent (GBSD) Program Office located at Hill AFB, north of Salt Lake City, Utah. This will be a long term project with the weapon system anticipated to remain operational until 2075.
We are seeking an experienced engineer with a willingness to learn and contribute in a fast-paced environment. They must possess high energy and a strong motivation to make a difference. They must be comfortable working with changing priorities. The ability to switch tasks with minimal disruption is a must.
This position will directly support the ICBM Weapon System Command and Control (WSC2) Integrated Product Team (IPT) as they acquire multi-layered communications for the command and control needed for the next generation ICBM for GBSD. Duties will include providing expert advice and support to GBSD Division leaders on all aspects WSC2 throughout the acquisition cycle. Specifically, this BAE Systems team member will be responsible for supporting the government customer in the creation and review, and assessment of documents, architecture, and Model Based System Engineering proposals in order to meet GBSD acquisition requirements and timelines. The position is being filled as a part of the Future ICBM Sustainment and Acquisition Construct (FISAC) under which BAE Systems augments organic government resources by providing breadth and depth of capabilities for system engineering and integration, risk management, technical assessment, acquisition program management, strategy development, organization and change management, interface with operations and logistics, business analysis, mission effectiveness, and ICBM Demonstration / Validation (Dem/Val) Integrated Applications Programs.
The individual will work on the WSC2 team and with other integrated product teams to assess the impacts of vulnerabilities, develop and implement mitigation plans, and document all findings. Our team provides future weapon system and lab architectures, concepts of operation, modeling, simulation, and plans for addressing GBSD WSC2 and Nuclear Command, Control and Communications (NC3) integration options. Our team includes existing staff with extensive expertise in the current Minuteman III weapon system, and actively participates in ongoing studies and assessments for this next generation system.
Minimum Education and Experience
Bachelor's Degree and 15 years work experience or equivalent experience
Required Skills and Education
BS in Electronic Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Physics, or Mathematics.
Minimum Experience 15 years with BS, 13 years with MS.
At least 6 years progressive responsibility in providing technical leadership.
Self-motivated with excellent verbal and written communication skills in addition to sound interpersonal skills involving interfacing, coordinating and negotiating with customers and company personnel.
Must possess knowledge of engineering management, project management, logistics management, production management, engineering processes, language & databases, software architecture & design, and software development tools.
Familiarity with or willingness to rapidly learn DoD acquisition activities in accordance with DoD Directive 5000.01 and DoD Instruction 5000.2 as well as any other relevant U.S. law, DoD, CJCS, United States Air Force (USAF), or other Service Component, directive, policy, instruction, or guide.
Must be current or eligible for a security clearance.
Preferred Skills and Education
ICBM experience, preferred nuclear weapon systems e.g. Ground, Guidance, RS/RV providing technical/engineering leadership with a working knowledge of nuclear missile standards. DoD acquisition experience/accreditation or equivalent.
Experience with integrating requirements into existing acquisition lifecycle phases, milestones, and deliverables using systems engineering principles and methodologies.
Experience in ICBM command and control (C2) or similar strategic systems.
Prior experience working with Department of Energy and National Security Agency requirements.
Prior experience working with classified systems.
Degree and typical experience in engineering classification: 8+ years' experience in ICBM C2, or 4+ years' ICBM C2 experience with additional 8+ years of other equivalent large-scale DoD C2 systems.
Master's degree in Engineering preferred.
