John Crane is a Global Leader in the design and manufacture of mechanical seals, couplings, seal support systems, filters and hydro-dynamic bearings. Working for John Crane ? Engineered Bearings, based in Grafton WI, you will support the strategic growth of the hydrodynamic bearings product line. We are looking for a candidate with a strong desire to carry out duties pertaining to the tooling and machining of parts, applying standard techniques and procedures as well as part programming requirements for Computer Numerical Control (CNC) machines under general supervision.
Generates actual part programs for the CNC turning and machining center utilizing necessary computer programming equipment, plus specifies correct machining data, tool geometry, current manufacturing/processing methods, and work holding specifications.
Applies knowledge, when required, for manufacturing parts from raw material to finished part specifications utilizing lathes, mills, or drilling machines, as required. Manages projects and conducts project reviews as needed to ensure successful and timely completion of projects.
Maintain a strong knowledge of G code, programming languages and practices.
Check other CNC programs as required for programming accuracy utilizing standard methods prior to a new or revised program being released to the shop floor.
Create 3-D CAD models to generate Edgecam programs as required.
Creates manufacturing/process documentation such as machining standards as required.
Provide technical support with manufacturing related issues.
Must be able to read and be able to interpret engineering drawings and specifications for manufacturing requirements.
Involves in Lean Manufacturing projects and events.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
Associates Degree in Manufacturing/Mechanical Engineering field from an accredited university; and 5+ year of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Requires basic hands-on knowledge of CNC machine tool operations, processing, tooling and work holding methods in order to assume the responsibilities of the position.
Must have a thorough knowledge of Numerical Control programming in 2/3/4/5 axis CNC machine tools.
Must have previous experience with Edgecam and Edgecam Strategy Manager, CAD (3D Model) and have very good PC knowledge and experience.
