Sewall Company POSITION DESCRIPTION TITLE: Staff Engineer DEPARTMENT: Engineering MANAGER: Director of Engineering STATUS: Full-time, exempt STATEMENT OF PURPOSE: Helping clients, communities, and employees succeed through responsible engineering and consulting services. AREAS OF ACCOUNTABILITY: Demonstrates a solid working knowledge of skills required in the focus area to provide analytical or technical support for assigned projects, or portions of projects, with minimal supervision. JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Prepares basic project cost and resource estimation for small or standard projects Manages project teams, usually designers and technicians, effectively Reviews construction Is organized and timely with administrative tasks TECHNICAL COMPETENCIES REQUIRED: Technological knowledge through training, project experience, and education Working knowledge of AutoCAD, Civil 3D, Microsoft Office, and HydroCAD Ability to write small or standard proposals Ability to provide project design and execution for small or task-specific portions of a project Ability to interact with clients for project specific questions or concerns KEY PERSONALITY TRAITS REQUIRED TO SUCCEED IN THIS POSITION: Is self-motivated Takes the initiative to suggest and/or create changes that will enhance accuracy and productivity Is familiar with most company resources and client services, and directs additional services as needs arise Works in the best interests of the Company Is honest, trustworthy, dependable, and respectful Communicates adequately, both verbally and written Must be a team player possessing strong verbal and written communication , planning, and organizational skills RELATED EXPERIENCE AND/OR EDUCATION REQUIRED TO SUCCEED IN THIS POSITION: A four year Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering or Engineering Technology Has Engineer Intern Certification 2 to 5 years engineering experience PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS OR LIMITATIONS: Must be able to visit a variety of locations including client offices, construction sites and undeveloped sites, work on a computer/monitor and conduct business by telephone; navigate vehicles and function under adverse outdoor conditions during field inspection work.
