Job Description

Civil Engineer I/II

Road Construction-Engineering Division

(Waterford, MI)

Job Responsibilities:

  • Act as project engineer-in-training overseeing smaller, less complex road construction projects.
  • Responsible for and oversees construction of a project from bid letting to final payment of the contract
  • Participate in pre-construction meetings
  • Assign and survey inspection work to ensure proper materials are utilized and required specifications are followed
  • Make recommendation for plan changes where it may be warranted
  • Prepare and maintain monthly pay estimates and other documentation for contractors
  • Work closely with other agency divisions and department
  • Perform duties in a professional and courteous manner to promote a positive image of the Road Commission for Oakland County

Skills Required:

  • At least three (3) years experience in civil or construction engineering
  • The ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing
  • Familiarity with road construction terminology, contract procedures, and federal aid paperwork

Education/Certifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in civil engineering from an accredited college/university
  • Legally eligible to work in the United States.
  • Valid Driver's License
