Who we're looking for

Toyota's Insurance Service Department is looking for a passionate and highly-motivated Automotive Claims Specialist.

The primary responsibility of this role is the contractual administration of all mechanical claims for all TMIS Agreements and TMS Certified Warranties.

Reporting to the Insurance Services Manager, the person in this role will support the Insurance Service department's objective to review and verify the actual cause and extent of mechanical failures, and determine if the mechanical failures meets coverage guidelines.

What you'll be doing

Verifies the actual cause and extent of mechanical failure, and determines if the mechanical failure meets coverage guidelines.

Acts as the primary contact for claims involving a mechanical inspection and/or technical analysis.

Analyzes mechanical evidence to ensure that recommended repairs are justified. Negotiates claim settlements in a fiscally responsible manner based on the mechanical evidence, referencing industry standard manuals/software for part pricing/labor times, balancing customer/dealer expectations with TMIS' contractual responsibility. The settlement of these claims impacts the losses incurred by TMIS and selling dealerships, as the claims range from $2000 to $10,000 per claim. The proper settlement of these claims can result in customer/dealership satisfaction along with a reduction in overall losses and increased profitability for TMIS and the selling dealerships.

Works with TMIS' inspection vendor to track status of inspections, special requirements, and any outstanding issues. Ensures that inspection data is recorded properly. Monitors the service levels of the other phone splits and assists with phone coverage to ensure departmental service level objectives are achieved. Approves and pays mechanical claims that are mailed to the CSC by customers/dealers.

Must have detailed knowledge of all automotive manufacturers' warranties, Federal and State emissions guidelines and warranty requirements.

Remains current with automotive technology (manufacturer repair procedures, automotive system/component operations, recalls, TSBs, SSCs for all makes/models). May participate in ASE training and certification. Participates in internal technical training.
