Application Development Engineer - Automotive M. Holland is the leading family-owned international distributor of the highest quality application-specific plastic resins, with strategically placed warehouses, packaging and bulk terminal locations across North America. The company serves over 4,000 customers across diverse market segments supplying over a billion pounds of resin annually sourced from the premier resin producers in the world. Summary As part of M. Holland's Business Development team, the Application Development Engineer (ADE) is responsible for winning material specifications and new business with Automotive Tier / OEM accounts preferably with interior polymer applications. Serving our strategic customers in a manner that is consistent with M. Holland's strategic and operating objectives and Core Values. The ADE will facilitate growth in Automotive material specifications across our domestic and international sales regions. In coordination with Market Managers, Product Management and Strategic Account Managers. Critical Activities: Drive new business development through close coordination with Account Managers and Strategic Account Managers within customer supply chains. Establish M. Holland as the preferred partner with our strategic customers for material specification on new and existing applications. Develop a robust network with OEM and Tier-1 product development engineers. Leverage exceptional technology from our partners that will differentiate M. Holland's service during the product development process. Create and deliver value-added material specification training for MHC Commercial team and select strategic customers. Track and communicate product development wins and create Case Study examples in partnership with Marketing Communications. Support development activity to achieve budgeted sales volumes and margins. Actively identify and communicate new business development activities through close coordination with Market Manager. Partner closely with MHC Technical Service Engineers during the initial material testing for new programs. Maintain an active travel calendar by traveling with Account Manager's, Strategic Account Managers and Market Managers to gain more exposure within assigned market segment focus. Develop and deliver new business development activity consistent with Supplier partner strategic growth initiatives. Establish a robust presence at industry sponsored trade shows as well as cultivating a robust network in relevant industry associations. Provide business development updates coinciding with Product Manager discussions with partner Suppliers. Ability to travel domestically on a consistent basis with some international travel. Knowledge & Skills: Application Development experience within the Automotive market segment. Direct participation in a commercial organization responsible for coordinating new business development within a matrixed commercial organization. Well established network within the designated market segment. Establish and grow reputation of a subject matter expert in designated market segment. Track record of establishing and maintaining deep and sustainable relationships at all levels of an engineering department of OEM's and Strategic Accounts. Well-developed competency preparing, closing and managing contracts. Advanced competency utilizing technology related to business development activity and customer communications. Undergraduate degree in Plastics or Material Engineering along with a career progression highlighting exposure to a particular market segment.
